Came by to pick up some baked goods for our dogs vet (squeezed us in after our dog got into some serious trouble) as they are the closest bakery to us and we walk there frequently. I have never had an issue, and especially love the lemon poppy and lemon chiffon cakes for birthdays/special celebrations.
I walked in and was standing in the back, trying to decide if I wanted to go with something pre-packaged or pick from the counter, by the time I was ready, a few other people were in the store, and I offered to one who was ready to go ahead but the lady at the counter called me up anyways. So I started pointing out 6 items (the orange rolls and the cinnamon knots) and the lady proceeded to pull out Weiner schnitzel bags (I wouldn't have normally minded but saw they had regular brown bags and found that odd) as well I need more items and would feel silly showing up to the vet clinic with a couple of those bags so I asked for a box. The lady proceeded to ask me if I was going to fill up the box (I understand boxes cost more, especially than fast food bags but I have never been asked this before), and I replied "yes, please. I'm picking out several items" and she seemed very disgruntled by my ask. However I trudged through and asked her what the items in the cookie box were to which she replied "cookies." I replied "yes, I wanted to know what flavors?" She replied begrudgingly at this point, so I picked out 6 cookies + some Oreo cakester things because we were all ready this far and the vets/techs/receptionists still deserve a box packed with goods. Thankfully the rest of the interaction ended okay.
I have never been treated like this before at this establishment but can safely say I won't be back (we have been coming here for 5 years and my family for 15+). I have been subjected to passive aggressive comments, especially the past few years due to the pandemic due to my race/ethnicity. Once or twice, I usually let it pass, but multiple comments feel like an attack. There are better bakery places (Tulies, Delice, Fillings, Creme de, Carol's, Chubby Baker, Forty Three, TOUS, Gourmandise, etc) who treat customers like me...
Read moreI've had just a straight up laughable experience with this bakery.
TLDR; this bakery is unprofessional and super mediocre. Don't get any of the hype. Just go to Smiths lol. (Not to mention the review I just read from a couple years back from a past employee describing their disgusting sanitation practices (no gloves!!!)) As others have mentioned, the customer service is definitely lack luster. Truly very annoying to work with. I went to a bridal wedding cake tasting and everything seemed normal. Must say however that the flavors sounded unique and enticing, but all kind of tasted THE SAME. (Either tasted like plain chocolate or vanilla, not even a hint of the other flavors haha they really live up to the cheap price they charge). We wanted floral decor, which they said they couldn't do exactly like our picture because they don't make the right kind of frosting. We understood and just asked if they could make something similar. They said they could.
Upon trying to order a cake, their correspondence via email has been standoffish, slow, unhelpful, and downright rude. They for some reason said that they CAN'T do what we had previously talked about and said that I could only choose 3 colors for the whole cake... What the heck lol? I'm paying you $60+ for a mini 6'' cake and I only get 3 colors? So silly.
But the really funny part is that when we finally got down to a solution, the girl wanted to set up a phone call to confirm, so I asked when we could schedule it for and she just ghosted me haha. Like 3 weeks of email correspondence (because she responded like someone with a full-frontal lobotomy every 2-3 days lol)
I don't think anyone should have to put up with dealing with the lady they have in charge of wedding cake orders with the kind of money they charge for services. Don't waste your time. Work with a professional bakery instead of trying to meet these immature workers halfway for mediocre cake that was probably made by someone not wearing gloves and a hand up their...
Read moreMy first taste of this bakery was when a patient brought our office the cinnamon knots. Yesterday morning I decided to stop in and grab a couple dozen for my coworkers, this would be my 1st visit to this bakery. I walked in, there are about 6 people in the back. No one said good morning, no smiles, no one came out to assist me. I stood there, for what seemed like FOREVER. Then a young man came out and asked if I'd been helped. I said no, he quickly passed the buck to another worker. She was not pleasant at all! I asked for 2 dozen knots and pointed to them in the display case. She then says. There are some over there on the shelf already bagged. I dont want those. They are fresh. She says. Ok, well.. that's not what I asked for. And she just stood there. Like I was interrupting her day. I begrudgingly grabbed the bags off the shelf. Since she was not willing to give me what I asked for. There was no, thank you. Have a nice day. Nothing! So very disappointing. The cinnamon knots aren't worth the poor customer service. I am all for supporting a locally owned business. However, I will no longer support this place due to their lack in customer service. In reading other reviews. This is a common problem. There are other bakeries in town. And I will be taking my business there. Side note, When I brought the knots to work. And told them about the crappy customer service. Two of my colleagues said. Yea, their customer service is awful. GET IT TOGETHER Granite bakery. Your product won't take you that far, when your customer...
