This shop is a complete gem and such a staple to SLC. If you truly care about your backyard birds, you really owe it to them to shop at this store!

You can do internet research to see what birds prefer, etc. But it's nothing like coming in and just directly asking experts. There are region-specific things that Google just won't give you. They are so passionate and cheerful, I never leave with unanswered questions! They know all the birds migration patterns, what food or feeders to use for various challenges, etc. Plus a lot of the food you order online is total garbage and not nutritious for the birds cause it's just filler and highly processed. They have high quality feed and the price is great.

It's also a quirky store with all sorts of knick knacks, cards, bird houses, trinkets, and things that I love. It's so charming. You can tell they really care about their customers and providing the best inventory.

One of my fave places in SLC. Not only are the owners exceptionally knowledgeable, they are fun and kind. They have everything a bird lover needs and even what you didn't know you needed! They have an incredible knack for finding the most beautiful and unusual yard art from fountains to birdbaths, birdhouses, hanging or staked in the ground windcatchers, gorgeous windchimes, birdfeedeers, plus the most unusual gifts you could ever find. Their birdfood is fresher than you can get it elsewhere and they have seed that won't germinate. They can tell you what that bird was that you saw! I could spend hours browsing..it's a very happy and relaxing place for me. I can always find a gift for someone whether adult or child. This is my longest review ever. That's how much I love this business. It's local which is good for the community. Hurry over and you will be hooked! They are open in the winter too😊. Oh, BTW, last time I went in they had a few free milkweed plants so I took one home to plant. Got to save our Monarch...

This is the first time I've experienced Backyard Birds. I was looking for a particular seed that a friend had introduced me to that the birds in my area were loving! The seed is White Proso Millet. I had visited several stores during the day looking for this seed with no luck. When I entered the Backyard Birds store I was immediately greeted by a cheerful, friendly and very helpful employee. Then two more employee's, also cheerful, friendly and very helpful! What a lovely place! Of course they had the Millet seed I had been searching for. I purchased a 25 lb bag and the first lovely gal that had greeted me carried the bag out to my truck. What a great place! Kind of crazy, I can't wait to run out of seed so that I can go back for more! Thank you very much...
