Edit: just to clarify, this was written over my experience of about 10 visits, again I wanted to like this place. The management is horrible, unapologetic & only makes excuses. Customer is not#1. The employees are great, they do the best they can without proper support of good management. The response of the owner is strange about the # of reviews. It got me looking at the # of reviews of other places in foothill village and strangely this place has an incredibly high number of reviews even though many places have been there a lot longer. I'm not certain I would trust the # of reviews bc they can be bought either by free or discount give aways or worse.

I wanted to like this place... The concept of "honest" sounded great to me. But honestly the place is a joke... I don't believe that the owners or managers have any experience running a restaurant and honestly they seem to not really care about their customers whom they ask to pay premium money for sub par service/food/atmosphere.

The service sucks, maybe worst I've ever had.. they take no priority to the customers, they deliver food at randomly different times... So for example if you order a smoothie or acai bowl, you get your food pretty quick, if your friend orders a sandwich it takes a very long time (even longer if you order a GF sandwich). So don't plan on meeting any friends or family here for lunch, you end up taking turns watching each other eat... The manager only makes excuses that they are "busy" but will deliver food to people who arrive after you regularly.

The food is basic and boring... For being "honest" I'm pretty sure a lot of it's just packaged good they microwave or heat up... The bacon is fake bacon they buy from the store and not even real bacon they fry up there. The price/quality is a huge miss.

The atmosphere is cold. It looks like they tried really hard to make it nice, but it's clear they have no experience in creating/making/maintaining a restaurant .

Also I used the bathroom to wash my hands and it appeared to not have been cleaned for many days... Yuck.

Please do yourself a favor and...

Reply to owner: Hi, I went to both locations, both for twice. The one at Foothill is fine, the food quality is the same, still great. Just one thing about the customer service that was a bit off. Same two girls were there when I came in at Foothill, they were both nice, not even impolite, however one girl seemed like she was annoyed whenever she talks to customers, the other girl was friendly. I ordered an Authentic toast but they made me the Genuine, which I would never complain about since I wanted to try it anyway, and they gave me an apology and offer for a change really friendly and politely. Overall, I'm saying this because I'm working in customer service too (at a restaurant) and I know for sure there will always be an off-day, but I also think that the attitude to have when communicating to the customers is really important. I would still love to go to a restaurant whereas the food might not be best, but the employees make me feel comfortable. Not even mentioning I love the food at Honest Eatery. One last thing, if the location at Foothill can make more use of the space it has(more tables, readjust the way you organized the shop) then that would be even greater.

Edit: I went to this location two more times after a few months with 2 friends and the service was good, good vibe and the employees were welcoming and nice. I tried the Excellence toast in combo with a seasonal soup (tomato soup for today) and once again Honest Eatery’s food never fails me. I changed my review into 5 stars and look forward to...

I have never written a review before, but my experience was so disappointing I felt it was necessary to share. I come here quite frequently and have never had an issue, however my most recent visit was completely disappointing. I ordered a baby acai bowl and the gratitude sandwich. Firstly, I was only allowed three toppings which described on the menu is granola + 2 fruits + 1 superfood. The employee only allowed me three total so I could only get granola, strawberries, and bee pollen. For $5.50 that is quite ridiculous considering I should’ve been allowed one more topping or drizzle. (I usually always get a baby acai and have never had this issue before). I was already sort of bummed about that but my sandwich was even worse. The bread was very soggy for being freshly made and it was not even cut in half and looked like they just threw it into the box. To make it even worse there was a huge pepper in my sandwich???? Nothing on the menu has peppers like that so I don’t know if it was put in there on purpose ? I was very nice and tipped so I am very confused as to why my meal was so terrible while my boyfriends sandwich was nicely presented and cut in half. I work in customer service and understand mistakes happen ! But this seemed very odd and intentional since I did slightly complain about the topping mishap to my boyfriend (because I did not get the amount of toppings I paid for). I loved this place but will...

Horrible service and frigid atmosphere both physically and in terms of ambience. The servers seemed extremely bored with me just from ordering and basically rolled their eyes as I handed them money. I was hoping this would be our new healthy “go to“ establishment in Salt Lake City now that Pulp Kitchen closed down but it looks like we’re still on the prowl. Our “dine-in” sandwiches were just plopped down in to-go containers on the table after waiting over 20 minutes, and honestly they were pretty ridiculous. A sloppy mess of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a quarter of an avocado added to some bread took 20 minutes??! The only saving grace was that my Gratitude sandwich had a hint of flavor.
