Slice House: A Pizza Lover’s Dream Come True. 🍕
If you’re looking for a pizza experience that completely redefines what you thought good pizza could be, Slice House is the spot. Tony Gemignani absolutely kills it.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, the service was impeccable and patient, and the entire space was spotless—seriously, even the corners of the floor were pristine. You could tell that attention to detail really matters here, and it shines through in everything they serve.
Plus the wonderful smells made you feel like you were back at Nonna’s house helping her prepare focaccia and sauce. (Without the passive Italian criticism.)
Slice House doesn’t just do one thing well, they MASTER IT ALL.
Whether you’re a die-hard fan of New York style with its perfect fold and cheesy stretch, craving the goodness of a classic Grandma piece, obsessed with the thick and airy Sicilian, or in the mood for the crispy-edged, cheesy, saucy (dare I say dirty?) glory of Detroit-style, there’s something for everyone—and each bite has its own unique texture and personality. I’d swipe right on all of them AND bring them home to meet the family.
The crispy pepperoni is next level—little adorable unassuming cups of savory, crunchy perfection that somehow steal the show on every slice. (Like what??) All of the toppings are fresh, bold, and flavor-packed, ranging from sausage, veggies, creamy ricotta, tangy olives, and oh that fresh mozzarella. (Get out of here.)
And don’t you dare skip their house chili oil! It adds a warmth that elevates anything you drizzle it on, especially the pasta and the crust. (Which is already phenomenal on its own.)
We came for the pizza, but after a little bit of healthy peer pressure, decided to start with some pasta. (Because why wouldn’t we hit carbs on carbs?) We had the gemelli with vodka cream sauce and pancetta, it really deserves its own standing ovation—rich, creamy, perfectly seasoned, held its warmth, and the sauce was clinging to the pasta that was cooked to perfection. It’s the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes and forget the world for a minute. (And you best believe we tossed in some chili oil…YUM!)
But then… dessert happened. Because we hadn’t abused our lactose and gluten intolerant bodies enough already. (And yeah…it was more than worth it…catch us outside how bout dat?!) We do have some trusty lactose pills, but that is a story for another day.
We had the legendary “Buddy’s” Rainbow Cake, which was as vibrant and fun as it was delicious. But the true star of the show? The house-made cannolis. (STAHP IT) When we ordered them, we were told we’d need to wait about 5 minutes for the chef to make a fresh batch of filling. (Oh no…5 whole minutes, how will we live?!) And wow, it was insanely worth it. The shells were light and crispy, with that delicate crack when you bite in, and the filling? Absolutely phenomenal. Light, creamy, just the right amount of sweet. We’re still dreaming about them. (Despite the fact that we just finished them in the car on the way home.)
Slice House is more than a pizza joint. It’s a place where flavor, passion, exceptional service, and meticulous care all come together. Whether you’re grabbing a quick slice, indulging in pasta, or chasing that perfect dessert bite…you’ll walk out full, happy, and already planning your next visit. (Just don’t cut me in line because there...
Read moreBeing a transplant from New Jersey to Utah for about 16 years now, I'm skeptical about what is considered good pizza in this state.... I was recommended by a friend who understands how picky I am about pizza to go right to Slice House and try. I'm happy I listened.
In a state that considers good pizza a pie that is about 3" thick with 8 pounds on cheese on it, and all the focus on how many toppings and how much of those toppings you can get on a pie to determine it being good or not, you lose focus on what pizza really is. THE DOUGH! Now, like I've said, I'm spoiled in the sense that I grew up in the tri state area, what some would consider the motherland of pizza and pizza battles, so I'm not saying this was the exact taste of home I crave frequently.... What I am saying is after over a decade of mourning I have found that Slice House fills the void of my desire to have a fine crafted pie within arms reach whenever home sickness strikes.
Also, they care. We had to wait a little longer that we were told for our pizza that we ordered for take out because they noticed a hole ripped in the bottom of the dough when going into the oven. 1- not mad, that means they are actually stretching the dough thin to give your a real new York style pie unlike...well... Anywhere else around here (with the acception of a few, but this isn't their review) and, 2- that means they pay attention to the food being made to order for the customer. Class act if you ask me.
We were given drinks on the house when we wait, and even an extra slice to have something for the extra time.
We all know eating out results in taking a loan on your home equity at this point, so if you are going to do it, do it at the right places where they show some passion for what they are also doing. It's really good to see some places popping up that I truly feel like will make it. I suggest you give them a try, and then think hard about what you really love about Utah beloved "the pie"..... Good pizza isn't that hard, even if your sheltered taste...
