I came here to edit some stuff for a project I’m doing out here and I brought my service dog in and everyone loved her and she was super nice to all of the guests. I had her on a leash next to me and she wasn’t creating any problem and no one complained. One of the barista‘s asked if I could leave because I had a dog and I told her that the she was a service dog. She said OK and I continued my work for another hour or so before she returned to my table and asked again if I could leave. I was confused and reiterated that she was a service dog and asked if there was any other reason. She said “because the dog was jumping on people and licking them”. My dog played with the people that came up to her and gave her attention which was pretty much everyone. Really unsure why she was so disrespectful when she initially approached me about it and seemed to be creating a problem that wasn’t there. I bring my service dog everywhere with me and she is not an issue at all. She gives love to people that want it and just wags her tail their when they don’t. Even as I was packing up to leave people came up to say goodbye and pet her and give her love. Really unfortunate that I had this experience because I would’ve loved to spend my time and money at this coffee shop. Wouldn’t...

Read moreNot from SLC. So when I am in town I usually sit in a coffee shop and work a bit. Been to Publik a few times and probably reviewed with 5 stars a couple years ago. However, the last couple of days the wireless at Publik has not permitted my VPN to connect to provide a secure computer connection.
I have two computers, one Mac (personal) and one Windows (work). I have two different VPNs from respected companies. Even though I could connect to the internet through Publik's wireless, neither VPN was permitted to establish a secure connection.
In coffee shops, I will not use my personal laptop and cannot work on my company laptop through a public wireless without a secure VPN tunnel. I suspect either a faulty setup or, worse, a malicious setup.
I cannot recommend any public wireless access that does not permit VPNs to establish secure connections. Is malicious spying at work? Who knows? I won't trust my personal accounts or my work communications to the insecure...
