We were so excited to come here and we went out of our way to detour from a trip to make it out there. We spent about $61 and got 2 cupcakes, a chocolate dome, an éclair, a box of snickerdoodles, a box of lemon bars, and a pre made sandwich. The only thing in the purchase that I would say was good was the Better Than Anything cupcake. It was delicious! Super moist, sweet but balanced...amazing! The sandwich was good as well. Not anything over the top special, but fresh tasting and satisfying.
Unfortunately it went downhill from there. The carrot cake cupcake didnt taste like carrot cake, and the frosting was painfully sweet (something I've never said before, sweet doesn't bother me) and I couldn't have more than one bite. The flavor was not there. The chocolate dome was super pretty and impressive looking but everything inside of it was dry. The éclairs was dry and kind of tough. The snickerdoodles were okay. They were a little underbaked in the middle so they tasted like raw flour. Finally and most disappointing and the reason for this review...the lemon bars.
I was SO excited for these as lemon bars are my favorite dessert in the entire world. They were awful. I hate to do a bad review but they were terrible. I only had one bite of the entire thing. There was no lemon flavor at all. And the texture of the "lemon" filling was odd. I didnt taste any lemon so I looked at the ingredient list and didnt see lemon on the ingredient list either. It just tasted like a sweet gel paste. And they were $12.99 with no lemon or lemon flavoring.
I hate to do a bad review. Ive had celiac since 2007 and always try to support and boost gluten free eateries, but this was really disappointing. Hopefully it was just a bad batch and a bad day or something. But the only thing my husband and I actually finished in that entire order was the Better than Anything cupcake and I finished...
Read moreI didn’t even know this place existed until yesterday! We’ve been to the one in American Fork before but this one is all gluten-free and closer to our home… win win. My son and I couldn’t decide on what we wanted because everything looked so delicious and I can never find gluten free treats, especially on a Sunday. We bought a little of everything to try. We got the Carmel vanilla, Carmel apple and red velvet cupcakes. The Carmel apple was amazing! All of them were super moist, which is hard to find with gluten free baked goods. We got a German Chocolate brownie… have to try! We also got a turtle cheesecake and plain cheese cake and one of their cute little fruit tarts. Oh, and we got a pack of lemon muffin tops too lol. Like I said, we couldn’t decide so we just got a bunch to try. Their flavors are well thought out and the textures were great. I am so happy to know we have a spot closer to us that we can get our sweet fixes at. I will be back to try their to-go sandwiches and breads too. The cashier was also super sweet and patient with us while we were deciding, such a cute...
Read moreAvenue Bakery on Fourth is truly a hidden gem, tucked away in The Avenues. When I say they "specialize" in all things gluten free, it's an understatement. Their desserts not only look exquisite but also taste just as incredible. They don't have that weird after taste like most gluten-free products on the market have. You could confidently take their desserts to a dinner party and no one would be able to tell the difference. They have amazing desserts but that's not all they have. Their fridge is always stocked with delicious gluten-free sandwiches, gluten-free mac&cheese, pre-made gluten-free dinners. It's truly your one stop shop for celiacs or anyone else trying to kick their gluten habit. It's also a great place to buy a last minute cutesy gift. There customer service is exceptional and you always leave better than how...
