I rated it low due to a customer service issue I mention below.
I came in for a late lunch/early dinner and was quickly seated in the bar area. I was excited for some mexican food as I have had a good experience there before. I asked what all was in the dish I was interested in and got it without guac. When it was brought out, there was still sauce on it that I hadn't been told about. Not liking such things, I tried it anyways and decided it would not sit well with me.
I told the waiter and he rather insisted that it should be good that way and couldn't understand why I would want to return it. He kept saying it should be good and also that I would have to pay for it anyways. When I tried to ask about ordering something else, he was still insistent that my current dish was fine just like it was and everyone likes it with sauce. That the restaurant would be losing out and I would or at least should still have to pay. He even suggested I just eat it anyways. At this point it seemed like he was insinuating I was trying to take advantage of them in some way.
Feeling upset and frustrated (and hungry), I decided to leave and asked for the bill. I tried to explain that this is not how you should respond to a customer and it seemed to make him change as I was then told I don't have to pay. I asked again for the bill and when he was not willing to oblige, so I paid what cash I had on hand and left (still hungry).
This is a missed opportunity in how you can better treat customers. I hope the takeaway here is that if a customer asks what's on (or in) something that this includes all the items. And if a different item is asked for, that they aren't made to feel awful for even making such a request. You should never tell a customer how they should feel, like, or not like something or feel awful for having...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Issaquah / Eastside areas; and coming from Arizona I HAVE been searching, and I do have high-ish standards. Endless (and free) chips and salsa start things off with a great impression. The chips are warm and the salsa tastes fresh and probably in-house. It has a distinct flavor and is certainly not your standard generic salsa found in most places. Waiter was on-top-of-it to bring refills in a timely manner. For the entree I ordered Pollo A La Crema - now, this was my favorite dish in Arizona and I have been looking for a place that made a good one. Up until now I have been horrified by what I have encountered (I'm looking at you Azteca!) This place did not disappoint. It was excellent. Coupled with generous portions of rice (it was ok) and beans (tasted fresh but standard) I was very pleased with my meal. If I had to dig and find something of a criticism, the strips of chicken were too large / connected with each other. Slightly longer on the prep work or providing something more than a butter knife would have remedied that. But I digress, that was no real issue. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Bright colors and tiles, Mexican environment wall murals and an impressive array of healthy and happy live plants. Our waiter was great; there when you needed him, gone when you didn't. No waiting for refills or the check, he was on top of it. Overall an absolutely great experience; will definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMeh. Much better than chipotle or rio bravo or some chain restaurant but also not as good as it could be. As far as a local business goes, it leaves much to be desired. I only ordered takeout so I canāt speak much on the service. I paid 16.49$ for a āfull plateā of enchiladas. What I received was a generous portion of rice and beans, chips and salsa, and 2 small enchiladas. I didnāt pay 16.49 for 2 small enchiladas and a main course of rice and beans, it seems that they are overcharging for a minimal amount of meat. Not to mention that for 16$ they should give you guacamole to go with it along with the sour cream. Taqueria la venadita in issaquah offers much more for the price, and you can get carne asada for 12$ with guac and sour cream in a larger portion with less rice and beans. I think the issue is that this place has no competition. Needs to lower prices or raise portion sizes of meat items, until then, I wonāt be back. Food was not by any means bad though, but could be...
