I would give this place a solid 4.3 stars because it has a lot of potential. I recently visited and tried their taco special, which had its ups and downs. Let's break it down.
The meat itself was quite tasty, and if I were to judge based on that alone, it would have received a 4.6 rating. However, I found it a bit dry, which made me suspect that it may have been sitting in the warmer for a little too long. Moisture is key, and I believe that with some adjustments in the cooking time, the meat would have been exceptional.
Another aspect that slightly lowered my score was the choice of using cold corn tortillas. Heating them up would have made a significant difference in enhancing the overall taco experience. The warmth adds a delightful touch and helps bring out the flavors of the fillings. It's a small detail, but it does make a noticeable impact.
On the bright side, the jalapeño cream corn was absolutely fantastic and easily became the highlight of my meal. The flavors were well-balanced, and it complemented the tacos perfectly. I highly recommend trying it if you visit this place.
Additionally, I must mention that the sauce they put on the tacos was delicious. It added a tangy and savory kick that elevated the overall taste. Kudos to the chef for crafting such a flavorful sauce.
However, I did notice that the enthusiasm of the people behind the counter was lacking. They didn't seem particularly excited to welcome customers. Friendly and enthusiastic staff can greatly enhance the dining experience, making customers feel valued and eager to return.
In conclusion, this place shows great potential with its tasty meat, delightful sauces, and standout dishes like the jalapeño cream corn. There are areas for improvement, such as addressing the dryness of the meat and ensuring tortillas are warmed. Moreover, boosting customer service by fostering a more welcoming atmosphere would further enhance the overall experience. With these adjustments, this place has the potential to become...
Read moreMy family and I went to The Pit for dinner on a Friday evening at 6pm.
Upon ordering, we were informed there were no Chicken Tenders. In fact, there are hardly any kid-friendly options on the menu at all, and no dedicated kids menu.
We ordered a side of fries and Mac and Cheese for the kids. The Mac and Cheese had both garlic and course pepper added, my 4 and 6 year old did not care for it. They did enjoy the fries.
I ordered the Chopped Brisket Pitwich and my wife ordered the Pulled Pork Pitpie. These were the absolute highlight of the experience. The chopped Brisket has a nice peppery bark.
My wife and I also shared a jalapeno sausage wrap. The sausage was delicious, it didn't really need a tortilla around it.
I ordered a side of Pinto Beans. They were on the bland side, with no seasoning beyond pepper and not enough salt.
The sides were a bit on the small side for the price, which was disappointing.
The service was not bad, but the two girls at the counter could not care less. They barely spoke, and it seemed like they both wanted the other to take and fill the order. There was no engagement, no friendliness.
The ice machine was completely empty, I had to ask to have it filled after we had been there 30 minutes. The ketchup on the tables I checked were all almost empty. In the roughly 40 minutes we were there, no came out to check the dining area once.
Worst of all, both bathrooms were out of order. This wasn't mentioned until my 4 year old had to go to the restroom.
Honestly, I'm not sure that I could recommend The Pit to anyone. If you were solely looking for the barbecue ONLY, it is well priced and delicious.
But the sides (in flavor and quantity), the atmosphere, the service, and the dining area were just not up to par.
I would instead recommend you check out Bodacious BBQ, another BBQ place in town.
Disclaimer on that: I am not affiliated with Bodacious in any way shape or form, I'm just a...
Read moreGot a to go order. Told them it was for a family of 5. Asked for bread to go with a meal and we didn’t get it. Gave us a tiny thing of bbq sauce. So if you choose to go here they’ll cheap you out on essentials it seems. 👎 also their menu listed here is not up to date because they don’t offer the party packs anymore. Very disappointing. When I called to let them know the person who and didn’t seem to care.
Updated after mangers response I will address this response. I did ask for bread, which is why I called to complain. And no, nobody offered to fix it in ANY way. So go ahead and lie if you want to make yourself look better. The menu I saw was here on Google so perhaps make some updates on it since so many people use it. The food wasn’t really that good either. The turkey was very salty and the brisket was also very salty and over seasoned and extremely fatty even though I asked for the leaner option. Also everything was VERY greasy and upset all of our stomachs. The sausage was… well sausage. Can’t really screw that one up. I did like the squash . The Mac and cheese had no flavor. In fact, we aren’t even eating the leftovers. My dogs did enjoy them though! So maybe they’ll give you the 5 stars you’re looking for. So in the end, no, we will...
