We loved this place. And we’re pretty regular here. Whenever we come here there is a server named “Stephanie” who is super cool and provides awesome customer service. We came here today (Nov. 10. 2018, 3:20PM) and it was pretty packed. And Stephanie wasn’t there. There was a big group Asian family waiting in front of us. No one greeted us so I simply asked the female server “how long is the wait” and she said “we’re working on your table so please just wait”. My husband and I are Asians too. So we thought she might think we’re the same group but no we were not even the same kind of Asians lol So I walked up to her because we saw an empty table with 4 people seating, and asked if we could sit there since it’s just me and my husband and she said “if you want you can sit there” and then I told her that’s why I asked her how long is the wait because we saw an empty seat but she was being rude to me and told me to just wait without giving me any waiting time. Her excuse was they were “short staffed” today but there are always 2 servers in the hall when we come here and never had ANY problems before. After we were seated she came up to our table and told me stop being rude to her and if I don’t want to eat here we can just leave... is she the owner or manager? Lol I don’t think so. Because right now I’m watching her working and she’s so slow, also dropping the tray & plates all over the floor. She should’ve came and told us it was her mistake first instead of giving me attitude and telling me don’t be rude(?) and we can leave if we don’t want her service. So we asked for another server and he’s so sweet and nice just like all other employees we know here. Today was just the worst experience ever. Hope someone can tell her to fix...

I feel like me giving this place 1 star is still being generous. First of all, the service here was terrible. I waited almost 10 minutes for water with lemon when the people I sat with, who got the same drink, didn’t even wait a minute. Had to get up and find my waitress for the water I ordered just to be told “oops I forgot”. Second of all, I ordered the calamari as an appetizer to our pho and didn’t get it until after our pho was already on the table. Took one bite of the calamari and felt as if I was chewing a cold eraser of a pencil. When the calamari was sent back, and a charge-off was requested, I get told that it was “already half-way eaten” and that I was still going to be charged for it. Keep in mind, the calamari comes with 8 pieces and one piece was eaten. Our waitress was still nowhere to be found and a nice kid was the messenger. We ate our pho, which was not all that. We then waited for 15 minutes just for us to have to get up again and ask for the check because our waitress must have left mid shift. After asking about the charge off again, the staff said that they tried talking to the cook (who is also the owner of the restaurant) and the cook refused to even meet with me or take the poorly cooked calamari off our bill. Staff was nice and gave us a small discount on the bill but if you can’t even own up to your poor cooking decisions and act like a child when met with criticism then you shouldn’t own a restaurant. Definitely will not be coming back and if you what pho THAT bad… just go to basil. They’re 10x better in service, preparedness, and professionalism. What Da Pho is overhyped and overpriced so take your money...

First, I wanna say that the people working here are extremely friendly, and from the banter and singing I experienced while there, really love their work environment. Also, I wish that Google would allow multiple reviews, because I do plan to go back despite the disappointment I had in this particular dish. I probably should have went ahead and gotten the pho. As it happened, I was in the mood for fried rice. And ordered the Chefs Special Fried Rice. And a Peach Island tea. The rice was...interesting. All together, the ingredients were ok. Individually, not so much. The rice itself had kind of a mealy texture. Almost like it had been chilled and then reheated. All of the meat was extremely dry. The chicken and shrimp were overcooked and tough. Interestingly enough the beef, while it looked like jerky, was still quite tender and flavorful, and really carried the whole dish. Some of my peas and carrots were still slightly frozen in the middle. Oh, and watch your receipts. Even though the dish is "fried rice", I was charged $1.50 to sub in the fried rice, without being given the option. The waiter did give me back the $1.50 when I pointed it out. The tea was ok. I can't say that it is worth the $4.50 I paid to have some gelatin squares thrown in to what I'm not even sure was an actual tea based drink, but it was fair. I do plan on going back and trying the dish the restaurant is named for, but this particular meal fell...

The menu was not very clear with mismatched pictures and items, often ill-defined. Good if you enjoy meat roulette. The curry chicken had a ton of smashed bone splinters, it was quite inedible, unless you have no qualms about chewing the equivalent of glass. There is no money back either for not somehow knowing just how torturous this splintery dish is, apparently you should just know from the vague meal items. The iced water tasted like pool water and does little to cleanse the palette. My company felt her Won Ton soup seemingly innocuous on the outside was a textural adventure not expected with evolving flavor journey like a Willy Wonka tunnel boat ride "where you're not really sure where we are going." She said she was relieved when was over. The star of show was the cream cheese wanton, which didn't leave her wanton again for any dairy, the 2-3 blocks of Philly cream cheese will cover up the mystery meat won tons though. Now, I could be wrong and maybe this is authentic and we are too white to appreciate it all, but just be aware of what you're in for in this one of kind joint in San Angelo. Shame on us for taking the name of the establishment for tongue-in-cheek, it's actually quite apt.

Some of the best Pho we have ever experienced. The condiments at the table are extensive. Stephanie was very attentive and cheerful. We had grilled chicken rolls as an appetizer, which are excellent, and the sauce is fabulous. The main dishes were Vermicelli Bun with grilled pork with shrimp and the grilled ribeye with an egg. The fish sauce tasted authentic, made in-house, and perfectly matched flavor notes. Bravo! The portions were large, served hot, and presented with a touch of elegance. The only thing I didn't care for was the ice water. It's probably because of city water, so I'd recommend a drinking water system to help combat the off-notes in beverages and ice. The seasoning tasted very authentic, and you might need to be ready to share a dish or take a nice sized to-go portion.
