Best authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had. Went there while on a taco crawl with my 7 year old son. It was our 5th restaurant of the day. We had been rating everything on a scale of 1-10. He took one bite of his puffy taco, looked at me, and in a sincere voice asked: “Dad, can I give this a 20?” Meanwhile, I had bitten into my gordita and burst into laughter- it was ridiculously good. A light crustiness to the Gordita created a teriffic texture. The filling was perfectly balanced with the seasoned meet and veggies. Just really fantastic overall. The next day we went to several more taco joints, but my son actually asked to go back to Bertha’s rather than a final stop at The Cove (where I told him ice cream would await). This is truly the epitome of authentic, homemade food. The restaurant feels like you’re in someone’s home. The small kitchen lends itself to small batch cooking. The food at Bertha's is excellent!! The meals taste like what your grandmother may have made. Everything seems fresh, down to the hot sauce. And the side dining room brings me nostalgia from my grandmother's kitchen dining area or a Señora I grew up around.
