My first, and definitely last, visit to Braso was yesterday. Honestly, the food was just okay – nothing special. But what truly ruined the experience was the shocking way my serious food allergy was handled.
When the server offered dessert, I clearly stated I had a peanut and tree nut allergy and asked what options were safe for me. His immediate response was, "Well, how allergic are you?" I was completely taken aback. As someone who dines out frequently, I have never been asked such a question. My hesitation was then met with him saying, "You don't sound very confident with your answers." What was that even supposed to mean? I just stared at him, because I'm certainly not going to risk a severe reaction for a dessert.
When he returned, I decided to address it respectfully. I told him, "You know, your reply to my allergy question kinda made me nervous; I've never been asked 'how allergic are you?' before." His defense was, "Well, sometimes people come in here and lie about having allergies, they just don't like something." I've worked in service, and it simply shouldn't matter to an establishment like this. If a customer requests something not be in their food, it should be taken seriously, no questions asked. I wouldn't even be writing this if he had just said, "I'm so sorry, everything is cross-contaminated" – that's a normal, professional reply!
But then he topped it all off with, "What does it matter to me? I can eat nuts, I eat nuts all the time, I like them." I was genuinely floored. I thought this was a "nice" establishment the service is better at Chilies , and I've never encountered such a dismissive attitude towards a customer's health concern. I wish I had gotten his name. He had black hair and glasses, middle aged, and he was clearly trying to cover a bald spot with black hairspray that was actually melting onto his face from sweat. Maybe I can't eat nuts, but at least I've got my hair. My friends then tried to explain that my allergy was bad saying “if she eats nuts she will die it’s serious” to which he replied “I’m protected under contract if she try’s to sue”. If this was all a joke I don’t think it was funny. I will never come back. If it was a joke you should have explained what I could and...
Read moreThis is not just about money. It's about feeling scammed, deceptive marketing practices, and unclear website scheduling. I felt cheated by the restaurant's marketing and handling of their apparent mistake.
I received an email offering a 50% discount on their all-you-can-eat meal. Excited, I drove an hour to San Antonio, Texas, hoping the discount would cover my travel expenses. After my meal, the bill came at full price, with no mention of the discount.
The email I received highlighted the discount and led me to book a reservation. There was no disclaimer about the discount being unavailable for my chosen time. Assuming the discount applied, I booked my reservation.
I don't have time to read fine prints. I expected to be alerted if my booking was outside the promotional range, similar to airline promotions.
When the bill came at full price, I explained to the manager, but their attitude was inflexible, subtly blaming me for not reading the fine print. I felt embarrassed and frustrated with their customer service. Both managers I spoke to didn't take responsibility or acknowledge their potential mistake, focusing only on my alleged lack of attention.
I'm tired of this kind of customer service. My frustration led me to write this lengthy review.
I felt deceived by their marketing practices, especially since they did nothing to correct their mistake. I even offered to meet halfway on the bill, but their greed or ignorance of good customer service prevailed.
One star for the frustration and embarrassment. Poor customer service in this matter, although the overall service was good, thanks to the cook and waiters.
Their marketing practices and unclear website scheduling need fixing. One star because the food is great, the atmosphere is good (though a bit dark), and the overall service is good. However, I won't return. They need to learn about true customer service and ethical marketing.
Bottom line: their inflexibility and greed lost them a potential repeat customer. The food was good, and I might have returned with friends and family, but not anymore. They deserve...
Read moreMy wife and I have been coming to Brasao for years for our special occasions. It is truly our favorite restaurant. Which is why it was hard to leave a 4 star review today…. We came in tonight to celebrate my wife’s birthday and we understand it’s Friday night it is BUSY. But one of the items we look forward to the most is the Filet (not bacon wrapped). We will order 2 of these (medium rare) at the very beginning of our dinner to give the kitchen and service time to prep. This evening we placed our order unfortunately not with our main waiter due to them being busy with other tables which we understand. But please don’t tell my wife and I it will be out shortly and then we discover it was not placed by our waiter an hour into our dinner... So after discovering that we placed an order of two filets one for my wife and one for me with our main waiter (medium rare). Again we understand it’s busy. 30 minutes pass by and our waiter returns saying the kitchen missed our order… and it will be out shortly. It was indeed not out shortly again. Throughout this entire time my wife and I are sitting at the table patiently waiting with fresh plates for another 30 minutes… 2 hours into this birthday dinner for my wife and at the very end of it we receive 1 Filet cut into two. And it was not even medium rare (overcooked) and was very chewy for a filet. Our waiter was already comping my wife’s dessert for her birthday but decided to comp my dessert too due to this 2 hour wait. Which we appreciate and please understand this review is not meant to be taken out on our waiter. We understand how busy it is Friday nights. But after waiting for so long and to be given a single filet cut into two which wasn’t cooked right. Especially for my wife’s bday dinner and what we paid today and all our past times at this establishment. This was the tipping point and left a very bad taste in my mouth for this restaurant which lead me to leave...
