Overall it was a sad experience and as much as I'd like to go back, this place seems like a cheap, greedy establishment with nothing but less than average food and attitude at the register. Feel free to read below for the full story.
We had high hopes for this place and were let down. My hubby and I love Mexican food and going to these smaller local joints, especially when we see birria on the menu. When we got there, it was not busy, we weren't greeted and the girls at the register were very catty and not helpful, even after we said it was our first time there. They both spoke in Spanish to my husband (I can understand enough but not speak well) and they did not even try to communicate with me when I didn't respond in Spanish back to them. It didn't bother me much, but my husband took notice. Next issues were dealing with food. My husband asked if they could do a birria quesadilla for me which they did and he got something they recommended. Both items were not very flavorful and my husbands dish was not as they described. He took it to be his misunderstanding but was still disappointed. In addition, all birria items I have EVER ordered at ANY establishment COMES WITH consome and they did not bring it when they brought my food, insisted that it does not come with it and then proceeded to charge me $4 for it which they brought in an 8oz cup (their smallest size? Probably not). [Side note: the girl at the register met me with even more attitude when I paid for it and asked for a togo lid.] It was a rip off for how much we paid and how our meals didn't even come with rice and beans; we had to pay separate for that as well just to get a very small Styrofoam plate of each. It was not worth the money and the service made it worse which is the main reason we aren't very open to going back. We don't have to gamble to find better food and service elsewhere.
Oh and after going, I read the reviews and Mr. Owner, you shouldn't try to guilt local guides for using their platform properly. FIX WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR ESTABLISHMENT. That's what will give you...
Read moreI can't believe all the 5-star reviews. My experience was totally different. I ordered two beef fajita plates. Selected "spicy" when asked. The plates came with rice, beans and something, I guess was supposed to be a salad. How anyone can call this food authentic is beyond me. Nothing on the plate had any flavor, let alone be considered spicy. The fajitas were pieces of fat and gristle stir fried with some onion and bell pepper--that is NOT authentic. The "refired beans" were un-recognizable as beans--something out of a can I suspect. The "Mexican rice" was dry and flavorless. The tortillas were thin, tough and clearly made with too much lard. I'm not sure what we were supposed to do with the little salad. Pico de gallo would have been a better choice--maybe that could have added a little flavor. When I pulled up to the kiosk to order, I asked what came with the plates. After several tries, she asked me to pull up to the window because she couldn't understand me. There was a car ahead of me, already at the window. So, I'm sitting there waiting for them to finish, knowing my order hasn't even been taken yet. After nearly 10 minutes, I pull up to the window, and I told her I was asking what came with the plates. She looked at the menu and said, "that depends on the plate". I gave up and just ordered the two fajita plates. Ten minutes later I was on my way--20 minutes from start to finish. I will not...
Read moreI was excited to get barbacoa tacos for my son today. When I saw the taco menu I noticed the prices were $22 & $27 for a pound. I asked the lady what was the difference and told her that I wanted barbacoa. I could tell she was having trouble understanding my question. (I am Hispanic but do not speak Spanish.) She handed off the order to another person and she explained one was lamb/beef & the other was cow head. I ordered the lamb and drove up to give my card. My son then said, "Mom, the cow head is barbacoa. I really wanted that." I knocked on the window and asked if I could change my order and she said, "He's already making it." I explained that when I first drove up I said, "that I wanted barbacoa" but the lady that I was speaking to didn't speak English. She then said rudely to me and my Hispanic son, "Ma'am are you a racist?" I was completely thrown off and responded, "Are you kidding me? I just wanted to change my order because I didn't know the cow head was barbacoa. " She said, "Yes, but you already ordered and it takes like three days to cancel a transaction." She shut the window and brought my bag. I honestly didn't eat it. I was scared to eat it after seeing that the person bagging my food could hear her calling me a racist. I called the manager and he asked if I wanted something different. I explained that this was not okay for her to call me that. He said he would talk to her and thanked me...
