I love Thai Hut. I've been coming here at least once a month for the last ten years. (Random aside: I don't ever call out other reviewers, but someone gave Thai Hut low stars because they didn't get chopsticks with their meal. Not having chopsticks isn't a red flag with Thai food. That's an ignorant comment because people from Thailand generally eat with a fork and a spoon, and they only use chopsticks for noodles.) Like most Asian restaurants in San Antonio, Thai Hut gives you silverware to eat with. I fully appreciate that they also offer Chinese food options for those who don't like Thai food. I've brought several people here who love the Chinese dishes, particularly the sesame chicken. I personally am obsessed with the pad woon sen, but the other Thai dishes are excellent. The food comes out quick and it's always fresh tasting. You get a lot more to eat at dinner, but lunch is great because you get a small bowl of soup and a big egg roll. You can choose how much spice you want in your meal, even if it's no spice. The servers are friendly and helpful. The price point is great. The parking lot is good sized but a little awkward so practice patience driving through it. They also have bubble tea and Thai tea. You can call ahead and get the order to go.

I have in the past been a fan of Thai Hut but the main problem is their food isn't consistent; the quality has gone down over the past few months. This evening I placed an order (pad thai & two large tom kair soups); I have previously had both and thought they were really good. This wasn't the first time the pad thai came without any of the garnishes (peanuts, sprouts, etc) which is just an annoyance, but the tom kair soups were inedible. There were small, very tough pieces that had you spitting out food with every bite. When I called, the manager made excuses ("you're not supposed to eat that; it's just for flavor") although I did explain the pieces were very small, not large and easily picked out. He wasn't apologetic and moreso acted as if I was eating it wrong. He refused to issue a refund and wanted to write my name down in a book for credit instead. I spent the last half hour with a strainer picking out the pieces. The ones pictured were from one of the soups, which were over $10 each; AA battery is there for scale.

Came here for lunch with my family on a Sunday. I'm vegan and they are not. I ended up getting a super tasty tofu pad see ew. The menu we were handed was sort of tiny with not many options and I didn't even realize they only had lunch specials going at the time. (The waitress failed to explain this to us) So when she brought us all soup before the actual food came out we were confused. She then explained it's part of the lunch special, tea, soup and a spring roll. I had to clarify I was vegan and she explained the soup had chicken in it. She hadn't made that connection before when I ordered a tofu dish no meat but no worries. I did confirm with her the spring roll was veggie only and no meat. I had also ordered a ramune soda not realizing tea came with the meal for free. Again, she hadn't specified but no biggie. I'm definitely down to come here again as the food was good. I'd just like to see maybe more vegan appetizers like some fried tofu? Also some vegan soups if you are going to make soup mandatory with the "lunch".

I have been going to Thai Hut on Potranco for 12 yrs. I have always been very satisfied with their restaurant. From the taste and quality of their food to awesome customer service and wait staff. I went for the delightful attitudes and beautiful demeanors of their superb waitresses (many of whom are from Thailand) and the very tasty cuisine. I looked forward each Tuesday to my hour lunch there. I brought my family and friends there when I wanted to take them somewhere I knew the service and food was good every time. Many of my friends frequent their location near / on 1604 and bitters b/c I introduced them to Thai Hut. I was proud to be a customer and contribute to their business. Since Covid restrictions started and especially since they have reopened their dining room I have progressively been more and more dissatisfied with my favorite Thai food spot. I am almost at the point where I am seriously thinking of not going there any kore as the quality of this restaurant is declining in every way. It takes a team of people to run a successful restaurant. I believe most of the people who work there now are not at all interested in having their customers return. They seem to have new employees all the time who do not know how to do their jobs properly. The taste and quality of their food is different and sometimes bad. I pay for extra portions of certain items or add ons and they do not deliver what is expected. When I ask them to correct something I am not happy with, which I never had to do before COVID, they will bring back the food in exactly the same state it was in when I handed it back to them. There is one particular Thai waitress who doesn’t give you good service unless you are a man whom with she can flirt with to get a larger tip out of and not very pleasant. There a few of my favorite waitresses left who are lovely hard working women who probably deserve much more than they get paid or earn in wages. Rabiab and Pon are wonderful and you should ask for them. One of my very favorite waitresses left and never returned after COVID restrictions, I believe b/c they never appreciated her or paid her enough after years of hard work. Customers would come there always happy to see her. It’s sad when a business you relied on and enjoyed becomes somewhere you start to avoid. They don’t listen anymore and they don’t seem to care. I would give them negatives stars if I could. I’m so...

Food always been good but I had an issue because when I preordered my pick up food at 330 and was offered the "lunch portion" for my 5pm pick up time frame I thought that would be awesome! It's just me eating it so I didn't need a whole huge serving just enough for one. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order it's about 10 mins til 5 but the food is ready! Awesome!!!!! Get home, open up the (deformed and melted) to-go containers and realise that everything is so extremely soggy! I call in to complain. Come to find out, the manager explains to me that yes that's normal because I ordered the lunch special so they made it during lunch. My food had been prepared at 315pm when I ordered it for a 5pm pick up!!!!! I tried (calmly) to explain how that definitely should be explained to the CM if I'm being offered a difference in portions as if it was not a big deal instead of being lead to believe I'd have a fresh lunch portion ready for me at 5pm. Nope, she told me about 4 times that that's not how they do it there and I should know this because I asked for "the lunch meal". I then began to explain that there is no way there shouldve been food just sitting on the back counter by the register for over an hr with no sort of heating element to keep it fresh for hygiene reasons. She disagreed, again, this was my fault. I ended up speaking to a second person (neither gave me their name) who told me the same thing just more firmly as if I was the one in the wrong. She finally agreed to a remake but wanted me to go back same day which I want able to (I had a ride to get there and drop me home so I couldnt go back). I asked for next day reorder. She began to explain to me as if I were simple minded that if I do another preorder then the food would come out the same. I asked her if that meant shed be making my food early again. She said yes. How the hell did she know sheds have it early when she nor I ever discussed a time for pick up?! I wont be back. Ps. The 2 stars is only because the food really is good. Just don't...

Thai Hut was good. If I could rate it 4.5 stars though, I would...just because it's not the best Thai I've had (certainly in the top 10 though).

However, they get bumped back up to a full 5 stars due to their Ninja-quick service. Like, I'm almost convinced they have microphones at the table and when you talk about your order the kitchen is already starting. I had Thai Egg Rolls at my table in what could not have been more than 3 minutes, so piping hot I burned my mouth (worth it).

Almost as soon as I had finished, they cleared the plate and in less than 2 minutes after that they brought out my entrees...of which I had ordered two, Seafood Pad Thai and Chicken Panang Curry.

The Seafood Pad Thai was good, nicely sweet and spicy. Seafood specifically in it was Shrimp, small Scallops, Mussels, and Squid. Also, nice, thin strips of Tofu, Egg, Bean Sprouts, and crunchy peanuts. Great, would order again (though probably just Tofu and Egg, how I normally like my Pad Thai).

The Chicken Panang Curry was great, sweet, rich, thick and spicy. This place gives a reasonably large bowl of it (so this isn't the type of place that does it more in a small stir-fry) so it's definitely not a light dish. Just a hint better than what I can do myself, which means it's pretty freakin' tasty!

If I had to give any constructive criticism, it would probably be on the rice-selection given with the Curry. It didn't seem quite as high-quality as I'm used to, and was almost a little tough in one area (I would assume from either sitting in a pot or rice cooker just a touch too long). Just a minor thing, I'm sure most people wouldn't...
