Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in San Antonio

I stopped by DU on my way home from work cuz I have a young lady at home hungrily waiting to be fed. It was the location at 5 palms n old pearsall. They are typically nice, I’ve never had a single issue at this location. However today, I was impressed by the attention. As soon as I pulled up to the speaker, I was immediately greeted and he added, something like, I will be right back with you in just a second … not quoting but basically I set the expectation that he was a bit tight up n will take my order asap. He sounded super genuine, it sounded different to the usual. Once he came back to me, he nicely n confidently expressed my specific request may take several minutes n have additional options in case I needed to avoid the wait time. Indeed, it was helpful because like I said at beginning, there’s a person at home waiting to be fed. Once I pulled up yo the window, he took payment n immediately handed my order with no wait time all. Then he still offered if I wanted condiments/sauces n he was , again genuine, gave eye contact like he meant the question lol.wow! Now since he handed my food right away, in the back of my mind, I figured the food will probably be cold, the mash n the chicken had proly be sitting under the light for a while BUT NOOOO!!! Oh my goodness the mas potatoes was hot n delish!! The chicken was hot , juicy n crispy JUST LIKE WHEN YOU SEE COMMERCIAL ON TV N YOU IMAGINE THE PERFECT CHURCHS CHICKEN COMBO. Yes! No joke, this food was amazing!! So , thank you, thank you to this team for being so caring with their job. Thank you to the young man with curly hair who set the stage since the very beginning! You all made a beautiful difference in my day which means a lot to this stranger :) What goes around comes around n I surely wish you guys goood, good days like you made my day. Went there yesterday around 6 o’clock. There was two cars waiting so me expecting that the food would be fresh since cars are waiting. Was about to get the 10 piece meal deal and I decided I wanted the mixed meal. I ended up paying $40 bucks for the meal. Made it home and I ordered mash, macaroni and extra okra. The chicken was fried so hard that I could tell that the grease was old. Tried biting the chicken leg and it was so crunchy and you could taste the old was in it. I took it back to get fresh chicken and okra cause they were burnted and overly cooked. The manager took care of me at the window after I asked for assistance. Made it home after he brought my chicks home which is like 3 minutes from there and the chicken looked the same and tasted the same. Do better church’s please. I hate to bash down churches chicken cause it's the best chicken I've ever had,but it was horrible,old chicken being served instead of replacing old with new,Timers need to be used in this spot,the jalapeno biscuit was hard as a rock,the young lady that took my order didn't listen nor tried to listen,yes it was a hot day but it's always hot in the kitchen, waited 20min for fresh Mac and cheese,too many employees working and not enough getting done,they were out of everything, everything on a sat,really on there busiest day they had no honey,they had no coke soda,they had no gallon or half gallon drinks made to sell,my mash potatoes had no gravy,on god.I can keep going,just disappointed, location on valley hi no longer there,drive 20min spent $55 on cold,hard food.I can bet that store gets a lot...
