I ordered the fish tacos and the ceviche bandera. I ate the fish tacos first because those are hot, and I didn't want those to get cold. Started on the ceviche bandera, and the cucumber one was salty. It's much saltier than normal. I tried the strawberry ceviche, and I almost spit it back out. It was intolerable to eat. The ceviche comes with cucumber on the side and tried eating those to help get rid of the salt flavor in my mouth. I tried again eating of the ceviches and it was so bad. I eat here all the time, never does it taste bad. So I waited for the waiter to come back to our table. She had not returned since she dropped off the food. We waited and and wait finally she came back around, and we let her know, "Hey, the fish tacos were fine, but the ceviche we couldn't eat. Can we speak to the manager. She leaves and comes back while later and says she can take a discount off the whole bill. I say no, I need the manager. Because I tried the ceviche, but I did not eat, and I'm not taking it with me. The manager comes, and I explain the same thing. She repeats her off of a discount. I am not understanding that I am not willing to pay for something I can not eat. She then told me, but it took me 45 minutes to let the server know about the food. Yes, 45 minutes because I ate the tacos first, and then we had to wait for the server to come back to the table because we couldn't find her. She then said I could charge you for a small ceviche for the one you didn't complain about. I told her no don't want none of it. The three ceviches come together, and two of them are beyond trying to eat. She goes on to tell me how they can remake it. But the salt was so bad I couldn't taste my soda anymore. So no I didn't want the food remade because at this point I cannot taste anything. She conttinues try to sell me on eating the ceviche. Finally I repeat myself again. She says momma why didn't you just say that was option one! To make matters worse she walks off and the waitress never comes back with the bill. We wait and wait finally go up to the manager and she hands our bill to someone to ring us out. Ridiculous service- this is not customer service. She spoke more than...
Read moreWow!!!!! Is the first thing that comes to mind when remembering this place. The staff is friendlier, helpful, and eager to help you. The food was soo delicious and priced right. There was a waiting room that was comfy (nothing compared to Kings Inn in Riviera) and the wait time was short. The waiters and waitresses were fast and friendly too and would explain any doubt we had. We asked for two particular plates and the waiter warned us that they were too much for the two us. He said each plate we were ordering was enough for two to three persons. I did not believe him and I still ordered them. Boy! I should have listened, the plates were huge! And with enough food to inflate the belly of four persons each. We ended up taking the left overs of one plate and the entire other plate with us for later eating. The food was delicious, the lemonade we ordered was delicious too. The whole experience made me decide to pay a visit to this place every time we visit San Antonio TX. If this business would place a similar restaurant in Riviera TX., Kings Inn would go broke for sure. They would not be able to compete with the quality of the food and the staff service Bucanero has. If anybody reading this comment likes seafood, pay a visit to these restaurants. I will dare state that it cannot be avoided to get hooked to...
Read moreMy go to place for Mexican Seafood. Had family in town, so had to bring them to El Bucanero. Came early Saturday evening before the big dinner rush, so was able to get seated right away. Even when it's crowded, the line moves pretty quickly. They do a great job of getting people seated, served, and cleaned up for the next party. We had a party of 6, but they handle larger parties all the time.
We were seated right away. Waiter immediately came to take the drink and appetizer orders. That came out within minutes and placed the main orders next. Most menu items are very large portions and probably best ordered family style. I've been here many times and try to order different items each time. This time was the Molcajete el Bucanero, Botana Mixta, Coco Loco, and Ceviche Hawaiano Tropical. The drink was the Michelada Bucanera. While waiting for your food, you can eat the tostada chips with the 3 different salsas on the table. They're very addicting and you'll quickly get full just eating the chips.
The food is amazing every time. I've never ordered anything I didn't like. Seafood is extremely fresh every time and always presented nicely. Service is very fast and they're constantly checking on you throughout the meal. Highly recommend El Bucanero.for good seafood and...
