7/10 for cleanliness The tables have a sticky/greasy residue feel. Coffee mug got stuck on it several times, the napkins too. (See pictures) Coffee 3/10 - tastes watered down, like they didnât add enough coffee to the maker.
Our waitress was extremely clueless about the menu. She knew absolutely nothing about it. She had to run back and forth 4-5 times to answer questions we had. According to her she just started yesterday. As a restaurant owner, when you hire a waitress you should train them on the menu and somewhat explain how items are prepared. At least a brief overview.
Iâm not sure where the people who own the restaurant and the ones who came up with the menu are from but this isnât âMexican foodâ Similar to Mexican food but definitely isnât, so if youâre looking for real authentic Mexican food this isnât it.
The art on the walls is Frida Kahlo. ONLY Frida Kahlo. Simple decor also includes paper flowers and paper garland.
After waiting over 40 minutes for our food hereâs what we ordered: (by the way each plate had something wrong with it and was not fixed.
Huevos Rancheros - Ordered : over medium, refried beans, salsa on the side, flour tortillas. Received : hard and not refried beans. The eggs and plate smothered in salsa. Asked for the refried beans and the waitress said they were in the blender and would be out in two minutes. 20 minutes later and reminding her a few times they never came but other people had refried beans on their plates coming out. Oh and the salsa had a sweet something to it. Not salsa ranchera.
Machacado Plate - Ordered : without Pico De Gallo Received : cold, hard and dry eggs. Either it was over cooked or it sat there for a while because it was also cold.
Enchiladas Rojas - Ordered : thereâs a image on the first page inside underneath the apps. According to the waitress they call those enchiladas. (They look like entomatadas) Received : red tortillas rolled up with a Mexican blend of cheese (white and yellow shredded) and then more of the same cheese on top. Two random pieces of meat in the rice that definitely didnât belong there.
ChicharrĂłn en Salsa - Ordered : originally asked if this was real chicharrones, the meaty, meat market kind or if it was chicharrones from a bag that are crunchy like chips. Waitress said it was the real âmeatyâ ones. Received : chicharrones in salsa but it was the crunchy chip kind. Definitely dissatisfied.
Also, there was a thin older Hispanic man that either works there or is one of those customers who is way too comfortable there. Was not helping the ladies and was interrupting customers. He kept on interrupting this one man sitting alone with headphones in. He invited himself to sit there and poor guy ended up taking his headphones out to...
Read moreWe came across this place after getting lost looking for the missions. It seemed to be a popular place to go after church.
Anyway, it was the best food we had all weekend in San Antonio. Their taco menu is fantastic - about thirty tacos deep with a variety of options for the herbivore, carnivore, and omnivore. What really sets the place apart is the tortillas. They're thick and floury, unlike the flimsy elastic saucers you find at most restaurants. Don't worry about butchering the Spanish and ordering the wrong thing; whatever they bring out will be tasty. I recommend getting...
Read moreIt a tiny restaurant, but very clean and welcoming. The servers are extremely nice and worked with me well even with the language barrier. The restrooms are very clean and look nice. The food was good. The potatoes in my taco were a bit crunchy though. They just need to cut the same size so all the potatoes cook at the same time. The taste was good. OMG... I really loved their refried beans. It's hard to find now a days. Their tortillas, on point. Garne guisada was awesome. I can't wait to go back and try more of their food. I really enjoyed the service as well. Very...
