We are in town for a conference this weekend, which also happens to be my birthday weekend. This establishment is my go to place for special occasions but we don't have one near us. So, when my husband surprised me with this while we were in town, I was so excited.
We had reservations for 6:30 pm and upon our arrival we ate greeted warmly by the hostess. We were thanked for dining there and then we were whisked away to our table. At the table was a card for me wishing me a happy birthday.
A server came by and asked us what we'd like to have for beverages and I ordered water and my husband lemonade. Our server Joshua Black, came by to check on us and to say happy birthday to me. He asked if we had been before and my husband explained that Fleming's was my favorite for special occasions and he agreed that is a wonderful choice. Our drinks arrived and Joshua let us look over the menu. We agreed on a Caesar salad and the crab cakes.
Joshua took the order and asked is we would like some bread as well. We agreed and then we discussed the menu abbey what we'd be ordering. We decided and stacked our menus. Right away Joshua came over and asked if we wanted to order now or wait for our appetizers to come our. We decided to wait until they came out.
Our appetizers came out and they were just as delicious as I remembered. Joshua came to check on us and we let him know how wonderful it was. I ordered the petite filet, my husband ordered the strip and as sides we ordered the Chipotle macaroni and cheese and the Brussel sprouts.
Our meal came out and was wonderful. Every bite was delicious and enjoyable. Joshua was checking on us, refilling drinks as needed and always asked prior to removing any plates.
After the meal was complete Joshua offered us the dessert menu and we ordered the creme brulee. Again this was wonderful.
Joshua was attentive to all our needs, was friendly, and made every aspect of our visit memorable. This is a visit where I felt important and felt wanted. Joshua is wonderful at his job and I could see that he takes pride in what he does. This is rare in this industry and I'm so glag we came here tonight. Thank you Joshua for making my...
Read moreWe visited Flemings on Saturday night to have a quick dinner at the bar. While the food was good as usual, we were completely underwhelmed by the service provided. We were greeted promptly by a female bartender who asked us what we would like - did not make any recommendations, ask if we had been there before, or make any additional attempts at conversation. At some point, she left for the evening without introducing her fellow male bartender. He didn't speak to us at all the whole time. We were not offered complimentary bread service that was offered to others, asked if we would like another drink/dessert, etc. Flemings is a restaurant that we enjoy treating ourselves at occasionally, and it seems the service has gone extremely downhill and is subpar at best which is not what you expect to get at a restaurant with this price point. I would recommend that management reinforce the importance of customer engagement, highlighting the menu, and not being "order takers." In the past, we enjoyed the bartenders Ryan & Brittany who engaged with us and had great attitudes but believe that Ryan has moved and not seen Brittany in some time. We also note that the service is always good on floor - not sure if the bar atmosphere creates too casual of demeanor with some of the staff. We will likely return at some point hopeful but with strong reservations and expectations.
UPDATE - After posting our review, we were contacted immediately by management regarding our experience. They went out of their way to invite us back and promised an excellent experience. We happily came back and did have an amazing experience with a lovely waiter who I wish that I could remember his name. His son was in the Marine Corps which my boyfriend and he happily discussed due to his prior service as well. I have upped my review from 2 stars to 4. Everyone deserves a second chance and it was...
Read moreI made a reservation fir 9:00 pm on Saturday February 27,,2021. I had been feeling in the dumps all day because it was my fathers birthday and I’d just lost him seven months prior. Although I’m don’t reside in the state of Texas , I am familiar with your establishment in the Manhattan Beach/ Redondo beach area and have had many, many fond memories and have thoroughly enjoyed many of your specialties. However, it’s been a long, long time since I’ve had such an horrible experience at any restaurant especially one of this caliber. The hostess was uninformed about the seating and I had to ask if I could sit at the bar without being offered that as an option.
I waited and waited and waited to see if she would ever return to see if I know wanted a table as many clients had already existed the building...... but to no avail!! There was only one couple sitting at the bar and the I’d come to realize this was a common thread in your establishment because after sitting at the bar for at least 20 minutes I hadn’t been asked if I’d like to order a drink or was I dinning at the bar. The crab cakes were under cooked and the second set was more like a crab chip instead of a crab cake.
In conclusion, the best part of my experience on such a very, very sad day foe me was the fully loaded baked potato.
WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY , TIME and MY DAD’S BIRTHDAY at your restaurant!!!!!!
And just in case your wondering why, I didn’t ask for the manager, I figured although judge mental, “Poor service comes from the head down and is so to a lack of revisited training😏😭.
Sorry Fleming’s and sorry Dad, I was gonna have a piece of birthday cake to celebrate your life but instead it was a bad experience...
