Mattress Firm The Quarry — Hotel in San Antonio

The Matress Firm store, located in The Quarry on E Basse Rd. in San Antonio, TX, is the worst retail store in the country. The store was ridiculously understaffed over MLK Holiday weekend, making our shopping experience incredibly difficult and annoying. In spite of the poorly trained sales staff, we moved forward with a purchase of a top-of-the-line, Posturepedic, adjustable king-sized bed, along with their most expensive, operable base. We spent over $8,100 on their mattress and base, and were told delivery would be the next day. Three hours later, the sales person, Darius, called and informed us that he had made an error when our order was placed, because he was working on their new, corporate Point of Sale software, taking no personal responsibility for his error. Instead, he argued that he had made an honest mistake and expected us to pay Matress Firm an additional $1,700 in order for him to be able to add the front base to our order. His directive is an outrage and the most absurd sales tactic we have ever encountered. So, you're sales person, Darius, decided to hold our $8,000+ purchase hostage due to his poor training and major mistake. It wasn't our fault, we did nothing wrong except, perhaps, visiting your store. Now, we have no need, having moved the previous bed out to make room for the new one. After several useless calls with inept sales staff, nothing was done to correct the error and get the bed delivered today, even though we agreed to pay the additional ransom -- because we just wanted the bed. My girlfriend is an extremely busy doctor, and has no time during the week to sit around waiting and overseeing a delivery. This was why we insisted on delivery today. Hope operation is a total disaster and your treatment of us has been deplorable, caring so little that you lost a$8,000+ sale....

A few days ago a friend of mine told me she was getting a Tempur-pedic and that reminded of how old my mattress (memory foam but not Tempur-pedic) is, and that I needed to also get a new one. I researched online at mattress firm because I had bought my last mattress there, and I found a Tempur-pedic that I really liked. I thought about ordering it online but realized I really needed to go in just to try them. I called and spoke to Darius at the quarry and he said I should come try them all because I might like something else better and I agreed. When I got there Darius (and Keoka) were very pleasant and enjoyable to talk to. I was able to try all The Tempur-pedic beds (there’s like 12 there, Keoka said) I was able to rule out all save one, which I kept gravitating back to. One thing I really liked, was Darius could tell the contour of my back to the bed as I tried them all out. And we both were realizing that one bed stood out for me the most because not only was it the most comfortable, that it was the same one Darius said contoured to my back the best. The awesome thing right now is there’s a four year no interest financing and there’s a $300 gift card for in-store purchase so I got two pillows and a mattress protector no additional charge because it was part of the $300 gift card. On top of that the mattress will be delivered in two days which I thought was phenomenal. I really appreciate the knowledge and pleasant encounter with Darius without ever feeling pressured. I appreciate the help with my decision and most of all I appreciate the great conversation and laughs we had while I was there. Thank you Darius and thank you Keoka, you both made for a wonderful...

Darius, much like his namesake who was King of the Persians, is a great leader. But Darius does not lead a Persian Horde, he commands something far more important, great savings on quality mattresses. I went in to Mattress Firm looking to purchase a basic firm mattress, I never really noticed the difference between mattresses, and never quite cared for anything I slept on. Aside from a preference for firmer mattresses I wasn’t looking for anything specific. Then came in Darius, he walked me though their mattress line-up and eloquently informed me about the distinction between mattresses and the qualities that came at different price ranges. He wasn’t pushy, and genuinely cared that I received all the information I needed to make and informed decision. This was particularly important because Mattress Firm was having their July 4th sale, and because Darius was there I got to see exactly how much I would save on each mattress. Darius got me $400 off of a queen sized mattress and threw in the bed frame on top of the package. When I saw the prices I said Darius you are saving me too much money, please stop. But he did not stop and Darius then finished me off by adding in a mattress protector at 50% off. I left there knowing Darius truly was King of...
