Jim's restaurant is staple here in San Antonio. and I would say that they probably been in business over 40 years. and for that time Jim's restaurant has set the standard for all coffee shops and places of breakfast here in San Antonio. But every now and then things don't go as well as they should and when they don't, we must say something otherwise things will just get worse for the next person. I do recommend going to Jim's just not this location.
And this time and age regarding the covid-19 pandemic standards for cleaning this have risen considerably. And quite frankly I just didn't see it there..... Perhaps the need to wear masks or to keep us safe from the environment inside.......and I don't mean to be tacky but I'm just saying if you're going to set a standard and tell everybody to wear a mask when they come in because we might infect each other the environment we're in should also be just as clean.......
And so should the employees. Our waitress look like she had been in a food fight and sadly lost. Honestly she should have been sent home to change.
Her appearance was consistent with her ability to serve and do her job properly. :( I and my wife were meeting some friends for dinner as we do every week.
I ordered the number two. My burger was rare, and not cooked the temperature. My wife's Burger was also the same. Our table is not pre-bused, and service was weird. I would like to also add their ice seems to have a funny taste to it. And I can assure you I'm not laughing.
On my way out I saw the manager and he waved at me, his appearance seem to be pretty consistent with hers....... and with that being said I'm just going to say it: clean up your act please. if you walk around at home like that you should also clean up your act at home too cuz that's just terrible to let yourself go like that. And I know you guys can do it this better, because there's plenty of other stores around...
Read moreI would give zero stars of I could. I have been coming here for years and have seen a very sharp decline in business and staff. Ceilings leaking, floods easily. The staff, whom were once very kind, are clearly dead on the inside with a female manager that is always angry and aggressive to everyone that comes in.
This is the last straw and I have to write this review. I just saw the Manager, Rene I believe her name was, tell someone to get out of the restaurant. The man had just walked in and didn't even do anything. She was clearly under some form of distress and the man left. The only cook, whom was the only cook out of three I have ever seen in the place, went to go give his own food to the guy, was just fired for going over this over aggressive woman's head.
I asked the waitress, whom serves me almost Everytime I'm in here, what happened to the cook? She told me that he was just fired for trying to help feed someone. I shook my head in disbelief. A family restaurant that used to live off morals and values, now run by people who don't even care about the cleanliness and safety of its patrons? This is unexcusable and I left promptly. I paid my ticket (lukewarm coffee and food I got to go because the manager now had to make it) and left. I won't be coming back.
This place doesn't care about your family or it's own people. I suggest to everyone else, even IHOP is...
Read moreMy daughter and I stopped here after church. Clean and good smells when we entered. Had a Hawaiian theme going on at the front, lots.9f placemats and crayons for the kiddos. Greeted by Victoria our waitress, she was so wonderful! Coffee and water then we received our food. I ordered the catfish. Never ate catfish that I know of, this was so tasty and flaky. Side salad and fries as my side dishes. Wow that salad was huge! My daughter ordered blueberry pancakes with a fruit bowl on the side. The pancakes are huge and full of berries. Fruit is fresh and a great variety. We seen other tables food too...omelets looks delicious! I usually order the omelets but today wanted to venture out of my comfort zone and order something different. Definitely not disappointed in my choice of catfish. I walked around and checked out the entry way for customers to wait (overflow). Lots of comfortable space to wait in case it's crowded. The seating at the bar is plentiful, able to walk right up to the counter and order with the cook. Clean and organized drink station. Comfy booths in the corners of the restaurant for large.groups or families. Did not see any clutter or trash on the floors. Really kept clean, smelt fresh even after walking around. Parking spots for handicap, ramp as well. Lots of parking, even after church. Jim's reminds me of Grandma's home cooking....never...
