23 January 2025: UPDATE: Laguna Madre is back to a five star spot! We did a drive through around 2pm, I got a #2, 8 piece fried shrimp meal with fries & Cole slaw. My husband got a #, fish & shrimp. Both meals were cooked perfectly, were delicious, and the fries were fresh, hot and yummy. Service was stellar. I'm glad you're back up to your usual high standard. Yum!
My husband and I ate here for the first time on Wednesday, Oct 6, 2021. We really, really like the restaurant on Rigsby, but this is so much closer. My husband had the #1.fried meal, fish and shrimp. I had the fried shrimp and oysters. I loved the service and the meal. The shrimp and oysters were perfection, the green beans and coleslaw were both delicious. My husband felt the same WRT his meal, except that he said the fish was a bit "fishy" tasting, i.e. not super fresh. We would suggest that the manager add some noise suppressing tiles, and turn the music down some. Otherwise, dining here today was delightful. Kudos!
October 10, 2022: This is still a five-star experience. My husband and I each ordered the 8 fried shrimp with coleslaw and green beans. There was a slight mixup in my husband's meal, which they immediately rectified. The shrimp are perfection and the service was stellar! Yum!
January 19, 2023:. I did a drive thru here today, and ordered the Avacado/Shrimp salad and a bowl of delicious shrimp gumbo.
The salad was really good, but I do have one negative. First the good news. The shrimp salad itself is delicious, and the thin slices of avacado and cherry tomatoes are perfect with it. I don't personally care for cucumber, but they're easy to take out. Most of the green are also great, but here's the kicker. I REALLY dislike getting 3/4 of the way through and finding big, tough chunks of lettuce RIBS. Those are so inedible. I would rather have a smaller salad and don't include those. Otherwise, this would have been another 5 star meal, but I think the salad is a 4.5.
May 17 2023 1pm. Husband and I went through the very busy drive through line, when the restaurant in general was very busy. I ordered my standard Avacado Shrimp Salad and Bowl of Gumbo. This order constitutes my lunch and dinner. My husband ordered the 8 piece fried shrimp. After a reasonable wait, considering there were three cars waiting ahead of us, they brought out our order. My husband asked what was in it, and the gentleman read it back correctly. However, I didn't check there, and when I got home, the Gumbo was missing. While I understand they were busy, I would have appreciated more attention to what's being brought out. The food, as...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went to have dinner there at the NE Loop 410 location, which we had previously been to a few times already in the past with ok service and quality and presentof food. Ordered our meals and when we finally did receive our food, I informed the server that there was literally 4 1/2 onion rings, which I had to pay an upcharge for, on my plate. I asked for a redo, add a few more onion rings, or my monet back for the upcharge. She got the manager on duty (Salazar?). He came over 8 minutes later and asked what the problem was and I played out in detail what I've already stated. He said "well there is never a guarantee of how the onion rings will be dispersed. We only do with what they send us. And I know the last time you may have come here you may have received a bigger order or amount, but it's depending on how they send us the shipment." I said how is that the customer's fault or how is the customer supposed to know that they are taking a gamble when ordering food there? Completely unprofessional and rude to me and refused to give me my money back until the very end while he was taking his time up at the register testing to figure out , who knows what. My girlfriend and I went up there and I said we don't need to be inconvenienced any longer, can I please have all of my money back. We did not eat our food during this whole process. Lost my complete appetite for the food and the whole experience male's me question the entire brand name. Not to mention, puts a bad light on Bill Miller's name as well. I can't believe his unprofessional attitude. I really would like to know how y'all plan to handle this matter....
Read moreSCREW IN FOOD - Husband ordered lemon pepper fish and shrimp meal with rice and fries. He found a black, approx. 3/4 inch long screw in his fish. The only part that was visible was the head of the screw and luckily he saw it before eating. We didn't even think about getting a picture as I was telling one of the employees (nice guy - braces and curly hair) about it. He seemed shocked, apologized, and took the food back. They remade his meal and brought it out, but that was it as far as any attempt to "make it right." Husband didn't even plan to leave a negative review until he realized he wasn't even going to get an apology from management. This was not only a dangerous mistake, but also reflects poorly on their quality control and cleanliness.
SERVICE - Keon at the front counter was so helpful and friendly. I'd almost be willing to go back just because of him. Also, the guy that took the food and got it remade was also very nice and seemed to care.
FOOD - The cook and flavor of the seafood was good for the price. We also ordered the grilled shrimp tacos, but the corn tortillas were crunchy/chewy, like a stale tortilla chip. It almost seemed like they intended to make a crunchy taco shell but stopped midway through the process and ended up with a crunchy and hard-to-chew...
