I recently ordered a 10-inch veggie pizza for takeout from Mattenga's Pizza, and I have to say, it was a pretty solid experience. I placed the order online, and after about 15 minutes, I drove over to pick it up. When I got there, the pizza was already ready and waiting for me, which is always a plus. The restaurant wasn't very busy at the time, but it was after 8:00 PM. There were a few people dining in, but it was still a relaxed environment.
Once I got home, I couldn't resist snapping a picture of the pizza before digging in. The first thing I noticed when I took my first bite was the crust, it was perfectly crispy, which I really appreciated. It had a nice texture that balanced well with the soft, well-cooked veggies, tomato sauce, and cheese. Everything was cooked just right, and the flavor was on point, not too greasy, with the right amount of seasoning.
Another thing I noticed while I was at the restaurant was that they have a pizza buffet during lunch hours. That could definitely be worth checking out next time I’m in the mood for a variety of slices.
I was really happy with the pizza. It was simple but delicious, and I’ll definitely be back to give them another try, maybe even for the buffet next time! I highly recommend if you're in the area and craving some good,...
Read moreI am a local guide in san antonio. I do go to New place and places I've already been to. I do give 1 stars if I don't like it and I will give 5 stars if I really like it and in between. I look at a few things 1. customer service cause I do work in customer service. 2. Quality of food, 3 options on gluten-free, vegan and healthy options, and 4. The taste. The taste will make or break the rating. We live right around the corner from here. We drive by on the daily. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. We got a personal gluten free veggie pizza, a calzone, ceasers salad, and pizza rolls. I have tasted some really great pizza, some good pizza and some I just took one bite and wanted to throw it away. I will have to say this place ranks up there with some of the great pizza places in san antonio. I will say everything is made fresh in house as advertised on door dash and their website. The calzone was on point. The ceasers salad is same Ole same Ole. The pizza rolls were also on point. The wife got a gluten free pizza and she says it's a lot better than some of the places I would consider top notch places. If I could give this place more stars I would ✨️ 🌟 🌟 🌟 there...
Read moreI want to like this place. It seems like an alright local spot with decent prices, and it's conveniently located. I stopped in with family to eat dinner, and while the service when ordering was a little bizarre, we got our food, and the young lady bringing our food to the table was super polite. Breadsticks and the "Pizzarito" were great, they've got some delicious indie sodas (Maine Root) but the pizza is honestly just ok. We ordered two pizzas, pepperoni and a Margherita, and while I expect a bit of grease from the pepperoni, it was the Margherita that was absolutely swimming in olive oil (this was MUCH more than the advertised "olive oil drizzle"). There was so much grease it was dripping off of the pan onto the seat next to me at the table. I don't necessarily want to say it was bad, but the pizzas tasted bland, mostly overpowered by the the amount of oil, which also made it difficult to eat more than a couple slices, and we all agreed that it was just way too greasy to enjoy. I hope they can pull back on the level of oil/grease used in their pizzas, making it a bit easier to enjoy. I wish...
