Saw them on a reel on facebook about there crab boil a couple of weeks ago so i finally decided to come. Atmosphere was nice. Service was timid yet friendly. I ordered the crab, shrimp and potato corn boil, but unfortunately the flavor was off they used a tomato base and Cajun seasoning and when I asked for extra butter I was brought boudin sauce that "I thought was butter" and I added it to the boil then the taste became even more off, then I ate crab and shrimp with that sauce and it was nasty. I asked the waitress for more butter and then finally I saw the difference between the first order of butter to the real 2nd portion of butter I asked for... I was like no wonder it tastes off even more so now, I asked if all the boils are made with tomato base she said she didnt know, then went to ask and then said no they are not. So I had my boyfriend try and he said that taste is not a Cajun boil hes ever had it taste like tomato and I said I know right and now its tomato Cajun boil with boudin sauce so I wiped off the corn pour water on it from my glass to eat the corn. But I could not finish this tomato Cajun boil the taste was so not a normal. So I called the waitress and asked her if the manager could come out but she said he said if have to pay for it cause I ate it all I said no ma'am I have only had a claw, two shrimp and the corn. Ill pay for half if anything, but I cant eat this. She went back to the kitchen so I approached the counter I could hear a man yelling at both of the waitresses in anger I was a bit afraid for them and myself for him to come out of the kitchen so I put my phone on record and when she came out she said she can give me a 20% discount so I apologize she got yelled at cause I could hear him through the door but she said thats her uncle and its okay but it was super unprofessional of him as a manager or an uncle in a place of business. Other than that the Boudin Balls we ordered were very tasteful but we wont...
Read moreMy husband had heard about Nuttin Betta New Orleans Seafood so we finally decided to make the drive in San Antonio evening traffic on a Friday to try them out. Although Nuttin Betta is a small restaurant it was very clean. We were greeted when we entered with smiles, upbeat attitudes and music; the vibe was very reminiscent of NOLA. We took how busy they were as a good sign that the food was going to be good and it was! No appetizers this round but will definitely be trying those boudin balls next time. We thoroughly enjoyed the Fruit punch Koolaid Lemonade! It was quite refreshing and not over sweetened with sugar! Tasted like the Koolaid my Mom would make on Sunday to serve with dinner. I could drink it everyday all day! The menu is typical of what you would expect of a Nee Orleans seafood restaurant: Seafood Boils, Gumbo, etc. The very nice couple sitting next to us was enjoying their Gumbo and yes, it looked authentic; dark roux and all. What I loved about their menu is that you could get all the dishes fried, grilled or blackened. Talk about versatility! Hubby had the Signature Dish - Grilled and he loved it! I had the Catfish and Shrimp - Fried; that came with two sides and I chose Fries and Fried Okra. (Loved that they didnât look at me funny when I said I wanted my Fish and Okra Extra Crispy. Kudos!) I loved it! The Okra was seasoned and they served traditional seasoned, cornmeal battered catfish; no Swai here! Yeah baby! Think I found my new spot for Fish Fry Friday! We were too full to get dessert but will take some Peach Cobbler and Bread Pudding home next time. The prices were very reasonable, which is a blessing in this economy. Did I mention the awesome customer service? Outstanding! Even though it was very busy the staff stayed polite and professional. I highly recommend Nuttin Betta New Orleans Seafood! We will definitely...
Read moreIâve been wanting to try this place and finally got the opportunity to visit - and with a friend who is from LA.
We ordered:
-Boudin balls. SO good and priced right at $7 for 3 well-seasoned with a teeny tiny kick of spice slightly-larger-than-golf-ball balls. Served hot and fresh out of the fryer.
-Oyster poâboy with seasoned fries. The oysters were a little on the smaller side, but well-seasoned and fried just right. They use a cornmeal batter that was a little heavy, but had a nice crunch. The sandwich is served with lettuce and tomatoes on unremarkable bread. (You have to ask for onions.)
The seasoned fries tasted like they were sprinkled with Old Bay. Definitely all the âpowders.â Very, very good. Again, served hot and fresh out the fryer.
-Catfish plate with coleslaw and mac & cheese. The catfish was the star of our meal. The fillets were whole fillets. Big, fat, thick fillets that were seasoned and very lightly battered and fried. HOT and oh so juicy! I could eat that every day of the week! (The tartar sauce was a little thin/runny, but maybe because it wasnât in the fridge(?(.
Unfortunately, Iâm not a fan of vinegar-based coleslaw. So I wonât rate it. But it looked fresh!
The mac & cheese was good. Thick cheese sauce and soft elbow macaroni. The kind your favorite auntie brings to Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.
-Fried okra. The okra was fresh out of the fryer and crisp. Just a tad under seasoned but nothing some salt didnât solve.
-The sweet tea is good. Like reallly good. Not bitter or tastes old. IYKYK.
Unassuming little place with tables and booths. Some NO decor, but the kind of place that makes their name from their food, not their âvibe.â
I...
