Pluckers Wing Bar — Restaurant in San Antonio

Quality: The quality of the food is exceptional. I ordered the Buffalo Bites Basket which comes with approx 18 nuggets and waffle fries. They were tossed in the Baker's Gold sauce which is really good - it has a honey taste with a nice spice kick. Perfectly balanced in the sweet:spicy ratio. My wife ordered the Spicy Garlic Parmesan and they were amazing as well. The wings were just the right amount of crispy and not dry at all. I've never been a fan of waffle fries since they're very inconsistent in how well they're cooked, so for this review I'm going to leave those out. The Arnold Palmer that I ordered was also impressive. It had a homemade taste to it, not like some restaurants were you can clearly taste the fake lemonade. For dessert, we went with the fried twinkies which were the perfect way to finish off our visit. The Twinkies were hot, which worked perfectly with the cold ice cream.

Service: To be honest, I wasn't expecting the service to be that good. I don't mean that in a derogatory way, it's just that I'm used to the service at typical wing/bar places. I was quite impressed at our server's attention to detail, mannerisms, and overall service. He was attentive, excused himself if he took too long (it was getting pretty busy), and was professional and friendly at all times. I wish I could remember his name to give proper commendations.

Ambience/Cleanliness: When I first walked in, it looked like the setup of the restaurant was very crowded, and indeed it is. However, once we were sat at our booth and we began settling in, somehow it no longer felt this way. We were completely comfortable and had plenty of things to look at - I'm talking about the massive amount of TVs. The music wasn't too loud and we were able to have conversations without raising our voices. The lighting was just right, too. And as for the cleanliness, where most other wing bar places have a dirty floor underneath the table and a sticky table, this place was very well kept. Not one sticky spot, not one crumb we had to sweep off the seat, and no need to worry about stepping on food or trash. Very good job, Pluckers.

The only reason for the 4 stars is the menu. We'd love to order wings by the piece (5,10, 15, etc) so that we can order different flavors and try them all out, but instead we're left with a combo of 16 bites, and various combos of strips. That was a big let-down, so much so that I kicked off one star.

We're not from SA, but we do visit quite often since we're a couple of hours away. This is definitely one of our new go-to spots. There's still many things to try out on the menu (looking at you, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich). So if you're in the area and are craving some wings or big burgers/sandwiches, I highly recommend you pay this...

My brother and I wanted to enjoy some wings while watching the Master's golf tournament. As we walked in, both hostesses appeared as if they were hating their job. It definitely killed our vibe once we made communication with them. (FYI, the hostess makes sure that their guests feel welcomed, cared for, and valued. They create a warm and welcoming environment for patrons from the moment they enter the establishment) That absolutely did not happen I was asked by one of the hostess what type of table we'd like. I requested and pointed to a short table top in the main dining area to be able to watch the Master's Golf tournament. She proceeded opposite of where i pointed, towards the bar area placing menus on a high table top in the bar area. Once again, I asked to sit in front of the large 4 screen TV with the golf tournament. She sat us down in the main dining area furthest from the TV I pointed to. She proceeded to say they could change the channel to the TV nearest our area. I then requested her to change the channel if possible. The hostess said she'd have it taken care of shortly. We sat there 12 minutes with not a single waitstaff tending to us. I had to walk up to the hostess desk to remind them we had been patiently sitting and waiting for anyone to take our order and change the channel. Another 3 minutes went by. By this time, we took it upon ourselves to relocate ourselves closer to the TV with the golf tournament. As soon as we sat there, a waiter named Gage took our order and was very attentive from that moment on. (Damage control) we received our appetizer, the fried pickle spears.🤌🏼 Manager Yesenia approached us to apologize for having to wait so long. (A little more damage control) 🤏🏻 our 10 hot Buffalo and 10 spicy garlic Parmesan wings made it to our table, we dug in, and we forgot all about the initial bad service... until I got home to sit and make this...

This Pluckers is worse than the alamo ranch location. Their host team cant seem to get it together. Once seated, waited over 15 minutes for a server to come over after 6 different servers made eye contact and walked right past my table. The manager a tall while male bald head was trying to avoid confrontation with a togo order at the front. Tables all around us needed to be bussed and they were fully staffed. Finally a server came over and took the entire tables order. Had to wait another 15 minutes to get a drink from the bar. Once the food came out, the fries were old and cold, the bone in wings you could tell had been sitting in expo dying, they were old and dried out. Also missing an entire order of fries. The server came back over and I explained everything to him saying I know its not his fault. He said he would get everything remade on the fly. It was not the fly it took time, alot of time. The server even came back over and asked if the manager had been over. The manager had walked right past our table about 10 minutes prior and did nothing. Apparently on their walkie talkies or however they communicate he said he was coming over. The new food arrived, still missing the side of fries which was up in window took another 5 mins to get those. The fries were fresh on top but old and cold underneath. They gave me about half the boneless wings I had on my previous plate. And the back of house team needs to be restrained on how to toss wings im sauce correctly. The server kept coming by to check on the table. The manager walking past asked if the food was any better thats it. He clearly needs some more training since he cant even deal with confrontation. It's part of the job, if you cant do it get a new one. Once done we had to wait a while until we saw our server to ask...
