From the moment we walked in we stood out but the server was amazing and treated us great! Let’s start there, service was amazing and she was so sweet. Especially dealing with my hangry, unsatisfied Latina self. She was great. We have been here before a few times and no time has been as good as the first but I am pregnant and I was craving “arozo con leche bites”. To start we ordered the chefs queso, flavor was amazing but it was STONE COLD AND THE CHIPS WERE STALE. So I just asked for more chips because I figured fresh chips are gonna be warm and that’ll help with the cold queso. So I didn’t say anything about the cold queso. The waitress asked the kitchen and brought me “fresh” chips. They were cold as well.. now I don’t know how their fryer works but normally “fresh” chips are warm. Or am I wrong? (Iv worked in restaurants 14+ years). Again FLAVOR was amazing. Wish I could have ate it. Next we order our entrees. My husband got the burger of the day, The Pickle Burger. It was a burger with fried pickles on it. The only difference was a jalapeño ranch that also was amazing, but nothing really different than your regular bar pickle burger. I got the Pork Belly Tacos with mango pico de gallo. They were good, but got even better when I added the jalapeño ranch. Finally I ordered my “aroz con leche” bites, I was so excited. They took quite a long time to come out. For those who don’t know it’s a fried ball of sweet rice on a few scoops of ice cream. They definitely took longer than should have. The server had the owner come to the table. He asked if we wanted the dessert to go and I said no because it’s ice cream and we had things to do in town. So I expected it to be taken off since I didn’t eat it or take it. NOPE! It was left on the check (also we were charged a credit card fee but we paid in cash). So I just took it to go and now I have a bowl of melted ice cream in my truck and soggy gross rice balls. Other than the server and the decent entrees, not worth the prices and not worth the carelessness of the kitchen...

The inside of the restaurant seems smaller, the door leading to the kitchen was open n it wasn’t a fancy view per say. The restaurant had a scent of like burnt cheese…. So.. as the nice, kind waitress walked us to a table we almost decided to leave BUT again, based on google reviews, we decided to stay PLUS the waitress was very nice. We stayed n BOOMED! We quickly adapted to the scent WITHIN a few mins we couldn’t smell it anymore. The waitress recommended n “ agua fresca” soft drink n it was the bomb! It tasted freshly made with real watermelon sweeten to perfection for my taste AND I don’t enjoy much sugar but the sweetness of this drink was from the actual fruit mostly. Quite impressed! Then the food totally hit the spot. I had a pair of sliders with Mac n cheese and again, it tasted fresh to me. If any of it was reheated, could not have been made more than 24hrs prior. It was perrrfect! My daughter had some salsa verde chicken tacos with fries, very delish as well n the fries are one the best I’ve had! So yes, what made us stay , was google reviews ( very accurate) the great service from the waitress ( young lady with beautiful long red hair) The “ agua fresca” drink with fresh fresh peppermint n lemon slice( yummm)! Go to this place! Its small but cozy n nice for any casual meet up!...
Read moreWent to the rebranded Saucy Birds which used to be Sangria on the Burg. 1st day open as the new resturant. Wife had the chicken strips and I had the burger. Burger was perfectly cooked on a toasted bun that they make themselves. The chicken strips were crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Not greasey at all.
The food here is used as a vehicle to experience the sauces made by Chef Ceaser. He brought a couple out separate from the ones we had with our meal. I'm a big honey mustard fan and his Spicey Honey Mustard didn't disappoint. Just the right amount of spice and sweetness with the mustard. Surprising though was his Cucumber Dill sauce. He needs to bottle and sell it. Has a nice dill and cucumber taste and the best way to describe the flavor is fresh. He also brought out a sample of his bread pudding he just pulled from the oven. Hit it out of the park with it. It was warm, tasty and light with a Carmel drizzle. The crust from the bottom of the pan was crunchy and actually my favorite part of the dessert.
For the first day open it had a decent size crowd but as the word gets out it will be back to making reservations...
