I really wanted to give a great review on Smokey Mo's, but my experience with their customer service was disappointing. I placed an order online and was told the order would be ready in 8-10 minutes. Got a call about 10 minutes later from the store as I'm on my way there, saying they didn't have chicken, which was half of my order. When I walk into the restaurant, the staff (all 4 of them that I could see) ingored me. I waited at the register counter for about 5 minutes before I waved someone down, who was standing in the back, to come and help me. I told him I was there to pick up an online order and he nodded and walked away. 10 minutes later, he hadn't come back, and no one else had come to the counter to offer assistance. Another customer came in a few minutes later, got help, and then I was asked what I need. I waited another 10 minutes before I finally asked if someone could just check what looked like to-go orderers that were ready for pick up. My order had been sitting there, ready to go, since my arrival. But yet I waited at the counter, pretty much ignored, for almost half an hour, when it would have taken 2 minutes to give me my order. It was frustrating and disorganized. I'm a patient person but being ignored to the point that I got annoyed wasn't a pleasant experience. It kind of ruined the food for me too, so I can't even tell you how it was. Hopefully that's not their typical level of...
Read moreFood was mild warm and not hot. No spices and definitely didn't taste like bbq. Tasted like meat cooked in oven. No smoke, taste, or smell whatsoever. I had to ask for the pickles and onions, and that was given in possibly the tiniest bag I have seen with the contents squished together. I didn't bother finishing the extra sausage I ordered because it tasted like it was not bbq'd. My date agreed that the food tasted regular and not like it was bbq'd. We both ordered brisket sandwiches, mac and cheese, and beans. For what we paid you would definitely get better quality food for less at Bill Miller's. And this does not compare whatsoever to B&B Smokehouse on Pleasanton and Military. I asked the employees how they bbq'd the food and they showed me a modern metal box that supposedly smokes the food internally. Definitely not working on this day of my visit. Tasted like it was cooked in oven. And lastly, why are the cashier machines asking for a tip? You self serve yourself. Shouldn't even be an option but rather part of the employees pay. I'm self serving myself so...
Read moreWhen I noticed that a new BBQ restaurant was coming to this area. I was looking forward to it. Overall, I felt the food was decent but I really liked the brisket. After trying the food for the third time I was disappointed with my dining experience.
After pulling up to the drive-through, I should have known from the start things were not going to go well. I did not find the menu board easily but as I drove closer to the dumpster I was able to locate it. I only wanted a brisket sandwhich and before completing the order, I asked how is the brisketis cut. She told me that it is cutter's choice unless otherwise specified. I clearly requested lean; however, after leaving the drive-through I took a bite out of the sandwhich and recieved mostly fat. Then I opened the sandwich and found that the majority was fat than actual lean meat.
There are too many other BBQ places that actually get your order correct and that is definitely the last time I'll eat there. By the way if you are ever on the east side try The Big Bib. They have...
