Subway — Restaurant in San Antonio

Odd experience at this place. It was about 7:45 pm and I walked into this particular Subway. I saw a large clear garbage bag inside the front door and an adult named Janelle or Anelle (she provided both names) refreshing the food behind the counter. She saw me and told me, "We are closed because we are counting the money, and for safety we don't serve food during that time." I said, "Well, I see that your supposed to be open till 10 pm. If you were actually closed, shouldn't you close the door so that customers don't just walk in on you while you are counting money?" She replied, "We can't close the door." My response, "Doesn't that defeat the intent for security by leaving the door open and also informing someone who just walked in the door that you are counting money. That seems kind of silly." Her response, "I can serve you in about fifteen minutes after we count the money." I said, "What is your name?" She gave me one name and when I read her name tag she called out another. My response, "Well what ever your name is, you are not only inconveniencing customers because you have decided to stop serving food but you are telling the world that you are counting money with your door open. This is all pretty stupid. My guess your manager allows this and also must be pretty stupid. Does your franchise owner know?" I walked out. I will not return and will inform others through social media that this place is not a functioning...

It's apparent intelligence is not a factor when being employed at this subway. I entered the restaurant at 9pm. They still had an hour before closing. Everything was put away. All chairs were up on The tables. The 16 +/- year old working behind the counter was sweeping. I asked for sandwiches he said they were out of meatballs (didn't want to make more), out of white bread, all the condiments were already in the back. They toasted my son's kids meal and apparently had dropped a piece of food on the burner and were too lazy to clean it. A large cloud of smoke came out of the toaster oven. When I got home my son's sandwich was ruined. It smelled of burned meat. I understand they want to go home but this is unacceptable. Usually have a good experience however tonight was terrible. Ordered for pickup. Food wasn't ready when I arrived. There were two employees and a manager. Only one employee was working. The manager was talking and joking with the other employee. My two subs were 20 minutes late because the manager didn't want her or the other employee to work. The gentleman apologized about the wait and kept asking for help but the manager ignored him. Finally, the other employee came and made my sandwiches after ignoring me and said they were busy before and that's why no one made my sandwiches. Everyone could hear their jokes and laughing when they were refusing to work. Overall, a terrible experience and the sandwiches were made very sloppily.
