Tacos Lira San Antonio — Restaurant in San Antonio

Tacos Lira is hands down a must stop when in San Antonio. Authentic Barbacoa sold by the pound. Yes we got 1pound. Barbacoa tacos Lonches Menudo. I tried the Lonche- barbacoa, cabbage/cilantro/onion mix, green and red salsa. I left out the mayo for personal preference. I ordered one and half way through it I had to order a second one. OMG. Amazing!! I wish you guys were located in DFW.

Honest observation- The joint looked clean. The employees worked quick, plates came out fast. Customers looked happy and quiet.(mainly because they were into the food).

The menu is limited but thats the whole point. If I go to a place to eat barbacoa I want it to be delicious. These folks specialize in barbacoa. The meat does not feel greasy, or under seasoned. Its juicy and tender. Taste fresh and not reheated. Hot when served.

The next time I visit San Antonio I will definitely be stopping by TLSA- maybe more than once.

I don’t say this lightly—this is hands down the greatest Barbacoa I’ve ever had. Every bite was packed with flavor, and perfectly tender. The menudo? Just as incredible. Rich, comforting, and so well-prepared that it stood strong entirely on its own-no lime or onion needed. By the time I knew it, it was gone, I scarfed it down. That’s how you know it’s the real deal.

What truly made the experience unforgettable was the person in charge. They welcomed me with such warmth and kindness, it felt like visiting family. It’s rare to find a place that not only nails the food but also the hospitality.

This place is legit! The menudo was delicious and hot, lonches (sandwich with French bread and Barbacoa) was also fantastic. When you make it a combo as in dipping the sandwich in the menudo soup. Out of this world! They ran out of beef feet in the menudo, so definitely will be back to try it con pata. This family own and operated restaurant first started as food truck but since has established this brick and mortar restaurant. Awesome food, friendly staff...
