My wife and I have been going to Thai Bistro and Sushi for years, but i am no longer impressed with the food. In fact, I am disappointed. The restaurant's ambiance is nothing to write home about. The nicest area is a little area next to the cashier/to go orders. Nice seating, fresh Orchids, pretty cool. The rest of the restaurant is tables and a couple of seat sushi bar. This place needs renovation/updating. When it gets crowded, it feels crowded. The sushi bar definitely needs updating. Small cramped. enough. Now for the food. We ordered the summer rolls for an appetizer. They are a full 1/3 smaller than pre -pandemic. 2 little pieces of cooked shrimp and the rest veggies in a rice noodle-like wrapper. Usually comes with a Peanut sauce, but I am allergic to peanuts, so asked for and received sweet chili sauce. The wrapper was fine, but the rolls overall were nothing special, but better with the sauce. My wife's to-go entrée was Massaman Curry with chicken and extra veggies, cooked well, and my wife said, "it tasted good." I had the combination Pad Thai with Char Siu Pork, Beef, and Mussels. It was supposed to be 4-pepper spicy; no way. In fact, they just gave a small container of red pepper flakes; big deal, I have a large container at home. The noodles were dry, chopped up and too chewy. Just did not taste fresh. The pork was good but a bit too dry. The mussels were out of the bag/box New Zealand Green Mussels and were the best part of the dish. The beef was so chewy that I just took it out of the dish completely. The overall flavor of the Pad Thai was pretty good. Thankfully, as requested, no peanuts in this dish. I have been disappointed the last several times, I've purchased to-go food from Thai Bistro. We have eaten there in person and the food and sushi was much fresher and tastier. Bright spot, the young man who took my order was very professional and amiable. Not wasy to find in this...
Read moreI was looking for a place for dinner and found Thai Bistro & Sushi online. I read the reviews and wanted to try it firsthand.
As I entered the restaurant, there's a sign about the happy hour which is from Monday to Friday from 2:30pm - 6pm and the coconut shrimp tempura piqued my interest. I like coconut shrimp and am always curious when I see it on the menu how well it would be made. Very casual place for sure! I saw that they offered bubble tea but didn't try it this time.
Initially, I debated between the pineapple curry and the pad thai. Daniel helped me decide. I decided on the coconut shrimp and the pineapple curry. The food came out very quickly (I felt like I just ordered). There were 6 coconut shrimp in one order and it was fresh and hot. It had just enough dipping sauce. I would order it again. I have not seen pineapple curry in other Thai restaurants before and it had the 2 things I like meshed together - pineapple and red curry. I chose it with chicken and the chicken was tender and not dry. I asked for spice level 2 and it was just right for me. The shrimp filled me up so I didn't get to finish the pineapple curry.
I know there's also sushi served here but I need to read more about the reviews to give that a try. The Thai food part is pretty good so I'll bring my husband...
Read moreIt was...ok. We got a cup of sweet and hot soup when we were seated which was very nice. I guess I just don't like the soup tho, and this was my first time trying it, but someone I ate with will specifically order it when we go to Thai places, and they said it was good. The service was nothing special or to remember. The food wasn't either. I got poor man's noodles I think it was called? And it was just FLAVORLESS and full of oil. The pad Thai was a little better but still not much flavor. I tasted the yellow curry that my friend got and that was pretty good, definitely thinner than India curry like a soup, as it should be. They got it at level 3 spicy of 4 and it wasn't as unbearable as I would think (I can handle jalapenos very well and up to a habaneros worth of spice). I decided to get my usual taro boba with regular pearls and it was just not worth it. I think I remember it being grainy but worse was the boba which was not soft, and they took a loooong time to get it to me. They have a whole lot on their menu so I feel like maybe some of it is going to be good but some won't. I don't think I'll go back for anything but maybe to try the curry at a lower...
