ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I came in months ago with a girlfriend for dinner and forgot how horrible the service was until I decided to stop in tonight after work for a drink and takeout. Before I even walked in, I saw the completely apathetic and bothered bartender who’d “taken care of us” months back scrolling on her phone. I walked in, got looked at like I was an alien and said “I’d like to grab a drink and order takeout”. Sat down and ordered - zero conversation, zero people skills, zero attention. News flash chick…you’re in the SERVICE INDUSTRY, it’s basically your job to kindly take care of people. (This coming from someone with a previous career as a bartender in higher end restaurants) It’s literally like the staff doesn’t even want to make money…
The greater half of the bar stools were already turned up on the bar top. How inviting is that? The place was dead…with only one sat table…Telling 🤔
This was my second and last time to ever visit this location. I honestly don’t understand how it’s even still open…aside from what I’m guessing is a lunch rush from the hospitals. But I imagine with a staff like that, it won’t stay open long…
I get that this is a chain and never walk in expecting top notch service, but I at least expect some niceties…dare I say, a smidge of humanity. I used to frequent the Alamo Heights location when I lived in that area and always had a great time, because the staff was friendly and ATTENTIVE. If I am to go back to Torchy’s it will be in Alamo Heights. But this location is officially blacklisted.
I’m not typically a reviewer but obviously this experience tipped me...
Read moreIf you know Torchys, you know. If you don't, then here are some clues.
Torchys has a secret menu, search for it online. They also have a Taco of the Month that never disappoints. Just don't go to Torchys for the standard taqueria fare - their unique combinations will have you thinking about food combinations in a totally new way.
This visit, we had the Scallywag taco (coconut shrimp with mango habañero sauce). The habañero was mild and really only apparent as the flavor lingered. The crunchy fried coconut shrimp are perfect with the marinated onions.
One of the previous Taco of the Month tacos was shrimp with chorizo and guacamole. I believe that was December's Dirty Santa Taco. I was amazed at how well the flavors came together on my taste buds.
One thing to note is that we usually split 3 tacos between us, they are somewhat overstuffed into the tortilla.
The only reason I gave just 4 stars was because the waitress brought my order and I immediately requested an extra salsa. She said she'd bring it right back. She didn't. Even when she brought my lunch mates food, she still failed to bring it.
All in all a good experience, and I shall return at least once each month!
Edit 5/24/2022: Brought my 16 yr old daughter for a snack today. She wanted the queso because her friends were raving about how good it is. I should have gotten a pic before we dove in. Warning: it comes with cilantro, but we love it. Her friends weren't wrong, the...
Read moreThe manager at this location, Sarah if that's even her name because from what I was told by the other manager, at another location that he's never heard of her being a manager before at this location. She was super horrible to the delivery driver and made him wait 40 minutes. Very disrespectful for One. I went through DoorDash, which is a third-party cause I didn't wanna go into the store and I didn't wanna go to the drive-through.. if the third-party has to wait 40 minutes for an order that was labeled as ready for pick up that's crazy. I had called up there twice to have her please pay attention to my order which was only one taco . And it was a replacement for the previous mess up, so I had to literally go through DoorDash and get a refund and order again . And I ended up calling up there to let her know of the previous mess up to please not do that and that there was another DoorDash coming . Only to be met with talking over assertiveness I'm telling you and I don't really care. I don't care. I don't care attitude . And excuses and excuses, but you can't excuse that the ingredients in the first item were wrong so you can't blame that on DoorDash . Maybe the temperature but not ingredients . It was to the point where I had to call corporate and another store to speak to another manager. And that manager was so apologetic and professional that I just couldn't understand why the one at this location wasn't. I felt so bad for...
