Tycoon Flats N St Marys — Restaurant in San Antonio

Service was GREAT! Food was good. I tried the fried mozzarella burger. Interesting. Love a good french fry and they had it. I had to add a bit of salt but nice and crispy on the outside and soft and mushy on the inside. My friend said his salad was great. He tried and liked the raspberry dressing. Another friend had the chicken fingers and said they liked them. My last friend had the fish tacos. I will eat ALMOST ANYTHING on a tortilla, except fish. They told me they could have had more flavor/spicing. I didn't taste them so i cant say, and really i won't ever taste them lol sooo. Beautiful day on the covered patio. Almost forgot GET THE CHIPS AND SALSA! The chips were super crunchy and that salsa... Tell your friends it tastes like its bad and keep it all to yourself. Ok, or just order one for yourself and one to go!

UPDATE... I had a friend that suggested going here again. They told me there was a lot of specialty burgers that I might enjoy. I ended up with the feta cheese cranberry sauce Burger with candied bacon. Are there any words there that you did not enjoy lol. Onion rings were great the little thin ones. My friend ordered the eggs benedict Burger I showed two pictures one with the clothes and one with the lid off. They said it was incredible but they missed the cranberry sauce from the burger I had so they asked for a side and added that as well. So many flavors so many dances really enjoyed. And the service was incredible a young man with a mustache was on it everything we needed whenever we needed it. Limited seating inside probably more seating outside. Parking might be a little challenging right now with the streets torn up but you should be able to get through there to their parking lot in the back there. We wanted to try the creme brulee but we were there for lunch and they said that they usually make them in the mornings for the evening so there wasn't one for us. Terrible Service I was visiting SA for future homes in Tobin Hill neighborhood, I went on walk to get a feel of the neighborhood. Thankfully I did! I was staying at an AirBnB in Tobin Hill. During my walk up and down St.Mary’s strip I found only one place that open for lunch the rest is just closed bars. Typhoon Flats was open so I walked in, not greeted. It is a seat your self type place, so that is what I did. I sat myself at the bar with the intention of a small lunch and beer but as I sat for 10 mins and no one still greeted me or asked if I needed a drink, I knew it was going down hill. Finally a sweet girl with glasses got me a drink and said a waiter would be with me. A handful of waiters saw me and never came unfortunately. So i was ready at that point to leave, I was so invisible that I could have walked out on my single beer tab but I did not because $5 is nothing to me. A group sat behind me and was waited on by the same hefty short caucasian w/ yellow teeth that kept dismissing me every time she walked past me and this is same waiter who grabbed drinks in front of me and did not say a peep to me. I finally asked her to ring me out and she so rudely put it “I did not get you that beer” and I asked her again politely with a smile if she could ring me out and she did.

Obviously this was white only establishment, so crazy to be that racist in a city dominated by Hispanics. Majority made it clear that I was not welcomed..I was in a room filled with caucasians who were waited on happily.

After my experience, I was reviewing the reviews. People continue to have horrible experiences here and the owner reaches out but that obviously isn’t doing any good, the most recent review was a horrible experience 6 days ago. That definitely tells me the owners are not doing anything about peoples horrible experiences here.

We’ve been to tycoon flats many times and this place has not only gone downhill it’s gone off a cliff. Terribly understaff and service is really bad. First we ordered 2 jack and diet cokes. Brought out jack Daniels with no coke. My wife would always order the Mediterranean Salad on the menu and it was great and would come Out with excellent hot grilled chicken. They discontinued the salad so my wife ordered a Cobb Salad and for a 15$ salad the chicken came out cold and disgusting. Apparently the Cobb is the only salad on the menu that comes with a cold protein but it doesn’t say that anywhere on the menu. Upon requesting that they put cooked chicken on the salad the server says he will let them know and replace the salad. Comes back and says oh no they aren’t replacing the salad they will Just bring cooked chicken without removing the nasty chicken on the original salad. I stated I wanted them to replace the salad with grilled chicken. Salad comes out with the same nasty chicken and they just microwaved it. This was after I asked the server multiple times if it would be grilled chicken. Manager didn’t bother to come out and check on us. Server implied the manager wasn’t happy that they served gross cold chicken and we wanted it replaced. This restaurant doesn’t value its clientele and do not care if you like the food or the nasty drinks. I’m assuming that they are losing tons of business and are going the kitchen nightmares route of saving money by degrading quality to save a couple of bucks for the few remaining customers because it used to be good.
