I would like to begin by saying the staff (apart from the manager) are wonderful people that actually want to help and the food taste great. The problem with this location is the manager, who I will refer to as Mr. Krabs, because homie is crusty as heck, a penny-pincher, and has the WORST attitude.
So, I place an order on their busted,.flying spaghetto monster code nightmare of a site so I can use an online only code I got from T-Mobile and have it set for pickup. When I get there the line to the drive through is a mile long so I park and walk up to the door that is locked. Now I don't know if there is some weirdo looking up CA Popeyes Google reviews but if you dont live around here that Cali sun will dougie on anyone who dares to go outside before sundown and there is no cover. I resign myself to this punishment, I am going to Popeyes after all. If you walk out without a knife fight your doing pretty good these days.
After a 10 or so minute wait Krabs comes out and tells me it will be a longer wait than the drive thru, I tell Krabs thats okay and I just want my food. He asks me what the name on the order is and after I tell him he says there is no order with that name despite me having two confirmations that the order was placed there and the money was taken from my account. After asking around for the delivery driver's orders he goes back in and after another long wait him and one of the worker girls comes out with food for one delivery driver. I again try to explain that I have proof of order and Krabs blows me off again. The worker girl decides to actually help me and is able to come out a minute later with a receipt of my order which has an abbreviated version of my name and my order. I confirm its me and in 3 or so minutes I finally have my order after a 30 or so minute wait in the Cali sun.
I don't know whats going on with the dude who runs this but he refuses to hire more staff, despite the load being greater than they can handle, is a complete A-hole, and cannot muster the effort necessary to re read receipts. I hope whoever owns this franchise fires him and promotes one of the the girls that can actually do the job. Not...
Read moreI love Popeyes. The chicken and sides are better than KFC and the Church's chic. lovers better not say nothing 😁. I prefer the non-spicy chicken best. If your can get them fresh, the popcorn shrimp are pretty good for drive-thru quality seafood. My favourite dish now is the boneless wings. Most days I order them and they are deep-fried to perfection and fresh. 10 pc, No sides needed. But if you haven't eaten Popeyes before and want a side, go for the red beans and rice. Also note that in some Southern states, the default side is dirty rice. Make sure muster up your best Nancy Regan voice and just say "No" and select a new side if you are not about that dirty rice life.
For anyone who has not tried the chicken sandwich, go ahead and jump in and try it on Sunday. I have a hard time comparing it to Chic-fil-a because there is a different experience that Chic-f. provides that the others don't. You know what I mean, "My pleasure, what else I get started for you today?" Those words make me feel like I am not being a fatty, even when I am totally being a fatty and ordering more food than I could possibly consume. And they have waffle fries, (with way too many ends peices), and all the delicious sauces that they horde behind the counter and don't want to give us even when pleading for more... With that being said, Popeyes clearly and unequivocally has the best chicken sandwich on the market on a Sunday. On Sunday, the toasted brioche bun has more life and flavour than any competitor. If we talk price point alone, Popeyes takes the gold medal any day of the week. When I saw the price of their sandwich, I was literally appreciative. I prefer the spicy sandwich because the overall flavor and sauce tasted better. By the way, I didn't think it was spicy (picoso), but let me sneak a pinch of pepper into a homemade recipe and my momma will call the fire department after eating my food, so my measure of spicy may not serve as a good benchmark for you. I hope this...
Read moreTonight I went to Popeyes at 1064 W. Highland Ave., San Bernardino to try the new Chicken Sandwich (CS). The drive thru was the only option and the line of cars extended to the street. An employee situated outside was taking orders in random order, jumping from vehicles at the back of the line to vehicles at the front of the line. After skipping my car and others several times, to take orders from cars that had just arrived, I decided to ask why he had skipped my car and others that had been waiting longer. He said he was just trying to keep the line moving. I explained that he could keep the line moving by assisting cars in the order of arrival. He said he was only filling orders for the new CS; which I explained was all that I wanted to order. He said he could take orders in the order he chooses. I asked to speak to the manager and introduced himself as the owner, Billie. I couldn't believe that the owner would provide such poor customer service. So, I called and spoke to the manager, Alejandra and she said she had no voice because he was the owner and could treat customers any way he wanted. Waiting in line is part of everyday life. We wait in line at the bank, grocery store, restaurants, etc.. imagine if every business owner or employee chose to serve customers in any order they wanted to, just because they can.... I will never go to this...
