I went to K grill & tofu house for dinner with my family and we had a great time. The restaurant is located on San Mateo Ave in San Bruno, and it offers authentic Korean cuisine. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The service was friendly and attentive, and our food came out fast and hot. The menu has a variety of dishes, such as soft tofu soup, bulgogi, bibimbap, seafood pancake, and grilled meat. We ordered the Pork Bulgogi, which was thinly sliced pork marinated in a sweet and savory sauce and stir-fried with onions and carrots. It was tender and flavorful, and it came with a bowl of rice and some side dishes (banchan). We also ordered the Combo Soft Tofu Soup, which was a spicy soup with soft tofu, beef, seafood, mushrooms, and vegetables. It was served in a hot stone pot that kept the soup bubbling throughout the meal. The soup was rich and spicy, and the tofu was silky and soft. The soup also came with rice and banchan. The banchan included kimchi, potato salad, bean sprouts, spinach, radish, and seaweed salad. They were all fresh and tasty, and we could ask for refills anytime. We also ordered the Haemul Pajeon, which was a large seafood pancake with green onions, squid, shrimp, mussels, and clams. It was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and it had a lot of seafood in it. It was served with a dipping sauce that added some tanginess to the dish. The portion was generous and we shared it among ourselves. The prices were reasonable for the amount and quality of food we got. I would definitely recommend K grill & tofu house to anyone who loves Korean food or wants to try...
Read moreFood/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - all tofu soups come with 6 side dishes, a pan-fried fish, and stone pot rice (dolsot bab). The side dishes seem random as we got different items than the tables next to us. Unfortunately the fish was pretty much cold when it was served so it was a bit chewy. SO got the Combo soft tofu soup at extra spicy which has seafood, beef, and mushroom. It was mostly mushroom and not spicy at all. The tofu was great in texture but the other sides were lacking in flavor. Seafood soft tofu soup at medium which had one peeled and one unpeeled shrimp, a little octopus, two mussels, and two clams. Again, while the soup was bright red, not spicy at all and some of the seafood was extremely chewy. Can't complain about the tofu though!
Ambience: 4/5 - very simple decorations and the walls are almost completely empty other than pieces of paper advertising more recent deals or new dishes
Service: 5/5 - very efficient and each of the server was constantly moving and working
Value for price: 3/5 - similar food to other tofu soup places but a bit pricier. Looking at previous menus, it looks like there's a few price hikes in the...
Read moreWhat a welcomed return to indoor dining! Met up with a friend and we enjoyed ourselves a small feast at K. grill.
My friend wasn't too familiar with Korean cuisine but was up to try anything. I ordered a serving of galbi, a seafood pancake, tteokbokki, and a dolsot bibimbap. Let me just say - some cuisines just don't cut it as to-go and Korean food is one of them. I'm so glad that my friend got to experience everything immediately, enjoying the tender, charbroiled galbi to the crackling rice of the dolsot bibimbap. The tteokbokki were delightfully chewing and the sauce was perfect, sweet with just a sneaky spiciness to it! The seafood pancake was also done very well. It was crispy yet tender and featured a good assortment of seafood. All our choices were delicious!
To be honest though, I've just been craving good Korean food for the longest time so I was already in love when the banchan were brought out. Everything from the kimchi to the kingfish were divine. Loved it all!
Total for 2 came to $88 before tip, but to be fair, we definitely ordered enough for 3 if not 4 with small appetites. More for both of us as leftovers...
