My husband and I visited this little bistro yesterday. My husband is asian as well and we enjoy vietnamese food from time to time. Upon paying for our bill that my husband had to get up to get hisself because our waitress was all over the place, we had been talking to several customers seated beside us. I had also been talking to these customers about my upcoming campaign as running for mayor of san francisco for 2024. My husband paid for our bill and upon leaving and saying bye to the other customers speaking with us, the waitress we had with pink hair in a pony tail came over and was mad because we didn't leave her a tip in the bill. My husband simply looked at her and said I don't have to tip you if I don't want to. With the price of living as it is already today tipping is not in our option right now. She kept being rude and very loud in front of all the customers, including the ones we had been speaking with, and decided to just humilate us in public over not leaving her a tip. My husband then said when you go see your dr or go anywhere else do you leave a tip? Its by choice and the service we get. My husband had already had to ask this waitress twice for one of our drinks we had ordered. The service was bad, she was very rude and she publically humilated us for not leaving her a tip and kept demanding in front of everyone that we leave her one and to not come back if we don't tip. I then called the manager to discuss this harassment and embarrasement and he was just as rude as the waitress. He would interrupt me when trying to speak and said did she hurt you, I then said yes, she embarrassed us and that not ok because we chose not to leave her a tip. They are given voluntarily by the customer, The customer has an unrestricted right to select the amount they wish to give, The payment is not negotiable or dictated by employer policy, and The customer has the right to determine who receives the tip or gratuity. a tip is a voluntary amount left by a patron for an employee. I don't have to legally leave anyone a tip at all unless I choose so. I was embarrassed, and humiliated in public by this waitress who needs to be fired and the manager as well. Will be bringing a lawsuit against this establishment. In san francisco they don't behave this way. Little Vietamese Bistro should be ashamed of their self for ever allowing this type of behavior, It is slander, harrassment and public...
Read moreDon't let the name fool you, but this is a place you want to come to if you want good Viet-Asian comfort food; they take traditional Vietnamese favorites and put their own spin on things. We were fortunate to have the Chef walk by and glad we went with his recommendations.
Their ultimate appetizer platter have something for everyone. With the traditional Vietnamese fried egg rolls, to their pork balls skewers poked in a cucumber and Asian style fried won ton pockets. To balance it out, there's vermicelli and other vegetables Another of our repeat favorite is their open flame cooked Quail with sweet onion garnish. Although it's to be have together the quail was tasty as is and didn't really need it. We also went with the Chef's recommendation of Eel, and this is one of the few places that cooks it just right (too long in the steamer and the meat is dry or too quick and the meat still sticks to the bone). Seasoning was done just right and added a savory taste that would've went well with some rice. For winter, we again went with the Chef's recommendation of pig stomach and chicken soup (Asian belief its good to drink this in the winter time to keep the body warm). Lot's of pig stomach and chicken (just needed a bowl of rice and this could've been a meal by itself) but the star was the soup, very hearty and tasty. The beef stew was on par, but their fried chicken and skin (with fish paste as the meat) was a masterful dish.
Plenty of parking and although there's a parking lot in the back, it was easier to find...
Read moreDecided to try this new vietnamese restaurant especially since they had bun rieu on their menu. Ordered the imperial rolls, pork chop with rice, 5 spice chicken with vermicelli, and large bun rieu to go(their take out menu numbers are different from their regular menu numbers, so don't get confused!). The food was ready in about 15 minutes. Inside was a lot bigger than the outside lets you think. Theres a good amount of tables and it is very clean inside. The food was well packaged and the large noodle soup was a generous portion. I was a little disappointed that the imperial rolls only came with 2 rolls, but they were pretty tasty. I liked that they put fried shallots with the noodles it came with. The vermicelli noodles did not come with fish sauce which we thought was a bit odd, but at least we had some from the other dishes. The pork chops were a bit small, but it did come with 3 pieces. The bun rieu came with fried tofu and crab/pork meatballs. The presentation of the meals were good but I think the meals lacked flavor overall. The noodles were a bit bland even though there was a strong crab smell. Even the vermicelli was quite bland. While I do hope to come again and eat in their restaurant, I wish their dishes had a bit...
