Came into this establishment 3 times because I did take a liking of the food. Each time I’ve noticed nasty attitudes from the workers and their facial expressions they gave me. The third time I gave it a last try and tonight was it. I ordered it to go because of the terrible service I had received in person. I asked for chop sticks and spoons soy sauce and siracha. I ordered for more than one person and the size of the to go containers are probably one ounce or less so I needed a few. As I’m asking for condiments I notice the worker speaking in her language and the other workers looked over to me and snarled and gave me the nastiest look ever. She then questioned me and asked why I needed so much sauce I asked did it cost more I can pay she threw it in the bag and had a really bad attitude all because I wanted condiments it’s sad the food is good here but I did not feel welcomed in this establishment each time I went. I hope they get training real training on customer service. It was sad and disheartening. All over an ounce of sauce lol....

It was pretty early & they weren't even really busy yet. The service was terrible it took them forever to take my order & they took the order of somebody they sat after me. But then the food came I had the Seafood Tom Kha Soup. I asked for very spicy and it came very plain. The seafood in it all tasted like frozen Seafood. The muscles were served out of the shell(FROZEN). Basically all the seafood was rubbery & had an old fishy flavor. I've never experienced this ordering Thai seafood soup. I had leftovers and the next day it was even fishier so I just threw it out. I also had the Crab Rangoon. They advertise "real crab" but it definitely comes from a can and again has a fishy aftertaste, not at all like fresh crab. I would have preferred imitation crab. Also they were really dark in color and tasted like they needed to change the fry oil. This is all I had it was $45 and basically it was a terrible meal with lousy service. I also had to wait to get extra napkins, water and the check took forever. I honestly don't know how people are...

First time I've ever been there, and I wasn't disappointed. My friend knew the place so, no surprise.

You won't find your usual "Thai" stuff there; no Pad Thai, or Pad Woon Sen, etc... According to my friend the place serves pretty authentic Thai food.

I got deep-fried pork meatballs, which were really good. Came with hot sauce on the side, which was great as it goes really well with the pork. I had to order steamed rice because that dish didn't come with any. My friend got a new year special, which was shrimps and pork belly (I assume), shrooms and glass noodles. That was good too, although it was quite expensive, then again it's part of a set of specials, which i guess won't be around forever.

I would probably go back there, but it's a one hour trip from where I live, so will see. It was worth the commute tho.

The only negative aspect is that the place isn't big and it gets noisy. Don't know if it's because of the high ceilings or what, but after awhile it was a bit tough to talk to my friend.

All in all, great spot to...

Isarn screams value. Home-style Thai cooking at a super low price point. What more would you possibly want? Yes, the restaurant feels a bit dated and jaded. Yes, this ain't your "impress your date" type of location. What Isarn is is your local go-to Thai restaurant that serves mouth-watering Thai comfort food in a non-gaudy, flavor-first way at an extremely reasonable, and I'd say even cheap, price. I am so happy to have discovered Isarn in San Carlos and the Peninsula. I really don't think there's another option that matches this much value and joy of dining Thai in the Peninsual, let alone the Bay Area. Yes, there are more fancier and opulent places but of course at a different price point. The roti with green curry was awesoe. The chicken satays were succulent and juicy. Pad Thai came out a bit too sweet but you can feel the family love. And the Tom Kha soup was wonderful. Isarn is a local secret. If you're in the Peninsula and need a hearty meal that puts a smile on your face, this is it. Will absolutely frequent.

This place is not the easiest to find and park at. I had plans to meet up here with a couple of friends, and each of us got lost on the way. This place is tucked away in a small lot, so we all ended up getting rerouted and circled the block before either parking in the small lot, which only fits a few cars, or on the street nearby. Despite the small size of the lot and restaurant, there was a bit of a wait, as this place was packed for dinner on the weekend. I order my usual at Thai restaurants: eggplant with crispy tofu. The fried tofu was nicely spongy, so it absorbed a lot of flavour and the eggplant was juicy and not overcooked. The dish didn't come with rice, which is typical at about half of the Thai restaurants I've been to, and I was okay without it since I wasn't super hungry. The portion was kind of small, and if I'd been hungrier, I would've needed to order more food to get full, but since I wasn't too hungry, it worked out.
