Confusingly aggressive staff??? The service at the restaurant is truly deplorable. The people are rude, unnecessarily entitled, condescending and flat out unpleasant. When you try and order by phone they have a tendency to scream or even hang up on you when you ask fo something as simple as extra broccoli. No matter how kind and sincere you are they act like you just asked them to make the sky green and the grass blue and have it ready for pick up in 10 minutes. HOWEVER, having said that, the one undeniable thing this restaurant has to “bring to the plate” (pun intended ;)) is that their food is a actually quite delicious. Perfect for a greasy Chinese food take out and watch a moving at home! Do not recommend dining in however is dirty and unpleasant to be around such a staff and they do not make it easy to have a comfortable and leisurely dining experience but the younger staff who do not act like your every order is a great inconvenience are actually quite lovely and a breath of fresh air! My hubs lived in SC years ago and spoke highly of this place, and we happened to have a craving for something outside our Ladera Ranch ‘hood tonight, so here we landed. Sweet family-run restaurant tucked back into an adorable plaza called Old Town. Attentive service, for sure! They only serve beer and wine, but I love the way they keep the sake hot in a metal pot with hot water!!! The egg drop was really delicious, and their hot and sour soup did not disappoint! We shared house fried rice, Hong Kong-style shrimp and beef tenderloin and the 3-ingredient sizzling platter. The only disappointment was with the latter entree; it sizzled VERY briefly when our server added the sauce to the skillet, so subsequently, the food didn’t really get a ton of flavor or sear. Secondly, it was listed as a shrimp, chicken and beef dish, but when served to us was all scallops, imitation crab and shrimp, which delighted my hunny none since he barely eats shrimp. The staff not to friendly they don't seem like they enjoy serving others. I realize they may be finically devastated by the previous quarantine.I have been there previously 2013 the staff was attentive and the food was good. The wife and i this last visit ordered dishes that had pork. There was no red color usually you see in the pork. It was gray in color , not much favor The texture was strange. We think they must be freezing it and thawing it , and cooking it, just my opinion . The other dish sweet and sour chicken had no flavor and no broccoli just some onion and some carrot shaving, the onions where not cooked enough and the chicken was mushy ! Its sopose to be crispy on the coating on the chicken , not mushy.Also had Egg foo young asked to have a combo shrimp and pork did not enjoy no bean sprouts I saw 1 shrimp and , yes GRAY pork cubes there was more egg than anything I will have to keep looking for a decent Egg Foo Young.
