Pizza Port San Clemente — Restaurant in San Clemente

Very tasty pizza and mozzarella sticks! Plenty of seating and limited parking up stairs! Easy access to restaurants if you park in the lot. They also sell a variety of beer! I’m giving this place 3 stars to their not so friendly/helpful staff and cleanliness of the seating area and or fountain drink.

I had ordered hot wings but upon receiving them I just got rubbed wings. I was never given the option if I wanted them in buffalo sauce, the girl that rang me up said that I didn’t mention it... it was my first time ordering hot wings and she failed to ask me a simple question to clarify. If there are various of options it would be helpful if staff would take the time to ask you a question to make sure the customer knew that there was more than one option available when saying the magic word: ”hot”.

When I was ordering, the girl at the register made me feel rushed (had she not rushed me and taken the time to ask simple questions, I would’ve viola had hot wings that I originally wanted). After fixing this error and asking for a side of buffalo sauce these wings were horrible. The buffalo wings were very fatty and didn’t feel like they were properly cooked. They were still pink and bloody on the inside. I would stay away from wings unless your into that. I also received the wings 20 min after I got my pizza. Once again had I been told they would take a while I would not order them...

She was also very condescending when I requested a pizza with items that were already a specialty pizza... her tone was quite rude. Their menu is a hot mess with so much writing is such limited space, not clear and easy to the eye. Hence why I didn’t see it on the menu, my bad that it was only my second time there and I didn’t get the chance to memorize every pizza on the menu.

I’m also giving this place 3 stars because, both the times I’ve been to pizza port (different times of day; afternoon and night) it was a complete mess. Staff wait until plates and cups to clear tables. There are plenty of tables inside and outside and the issue here is not that there isn’t adequate amount of seating, but the fact that staff don’t clean tables when they see them. It’s not appealing nor appetizing to see dirty plates and cups on the table as you grab your order... come on now... You can take a closer look at the floor in my photos and you can see how dirty it is (and this was barley early afternoon so you can only image how messy the rest of the seating area really is).

I also wouldn’t recommend buying a soda from the fountain drink, doesn’t look like they clean those very often...

After these two visits it’s safe to say that I no longer will order the fatty wings (if you do make sure you state that you want them in BUFFALO SAUCE) and or dinning inside. Would rather just stick the ordering...

I would like to take the time to write this to you and let you know about the practices taken at your establishment. Today at about 17:30 my family and I visited your establishment, some of us for the first time, because of a recommendation made to us by another member of party. It is unfortunate to say that we will no longer be visiting your establishment because of the POOR customer service provided by your staff. To begin with as we walked in to order our food we were ignored by your employee taking orders for several minutes and when we were finally acknowledged it was with one of the worst attitudes I have experienced in the service industry. Seeing as your female employee might have just been having a bad day, we all have those, we let it slide. However that was not the only downside to the night as once we went to the bar we were treated as equally poor by your female bartender. We had already ordered by this point so we made our way to the outside. Even though it is 57 degrees outside and asked that the patio heaters be turned on they never were. To top this off we were made fools of by your manager on duty when he came out and took our alcoholic beverages away from our hands in the middle of our meal stating we were not allowed to consume those beverages outside due to your licenses and that we were told this by the bartender, we were not. It is a policy that is completely understandable and had we been aware we would have obliged completely. I do not understand how you allow such inadequate staff to be employed at your facility. Speaking as someone who employs many people, these poor tactics will deminish the reputation of your business. I really hope that you can hire competent individuals in the future or your business will suffer...

This place is your typical family style meets softball, basketball, or any other sport recreational men's league. Pizza is good and there are plenty of beers on tap and this experience has the potential to carry you back into the gym, water, cycling, or whatever your thing is -in order to work off the weight.

Is this place really, really, really good? Yes. Is this place great? Borderline yes, leaning toward no. Hey but at least they have locations in Ocean Beach, Solana Beach, Carlsbad, and here (San Clemente). Crowd is off hook and it's loud and pretty noisy. Do not spend your quiet romantic evening here. Instead, try South of Nick's (across the street).

So what to order? I went with the Garlic Veggie Pizza: Spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic, feta & mozzarella. Be warned that they will serve you their traditional crust unless you ask for their signature wholegrain beer crust. That crust is VERY good, like 5 star type good. I simply would critique that the pizza should be served thinner as to bring out the balance of the ingredients in the veggie pizza. You will get a lot of pizza, packed with ingredients, but MOST of the time, less is truly more and you can enjoy the flavor of each separate ingredient, served amongst a whole pizza pie. -With veggies and chesse jammed in there, it makes the -what otherwise could be considered as 'award winning crust' come out a bit soggy towards the middle and this has the tendency to unbalance the pizza.

Promise you... You might not truly notice this after a long surfing session or any other activity that leave you feeling famished and hungry!

All in all: Great place. Fun location. A 'must do' if you're in the mood for pizza...
