We talked to a few pool contractors before starting our backyard project, and chose to work with California Pools for two main reasons - 1. we really liked the in-office design and consultation, as well as meeting some of the team face to face, and 2. they said that, unless we choose to change something, the quote is the quote - no surprises.

We had a very complicated backyard demo and there were some hidden surprises in our yard that came up during the demo. Ryan V. and California Pools were 100% true to their word and didn't come back and ask for more money, unless we did something out of the original project scope. Also, despite an extremely wet winter and long demo, they finished our full backyard quickly. They called for inspections as soon as a stage was complete, and coordinated the various teams extremely efficiently.

Most importantly for us, their communication was amazing. We had asked to be "extra informed" about the process, and they were great with that. The whole team was a pleasure to work with. We had a phone call early on with Ryan V. where he was very thoughtful, understanding, and professional. We also have to give an extra shout out to Ryan S., our project manager. Every time I called or texted with an urgent question, he immediately responded. He is extremely knowledgable and professional, and also very friendly and patient.

We put in a new pool, spa, firepit and turf with California Pools, and our backyard came out even better than we could have imagined. We are so thankful to California Pools, and have loved having our new yard for the summer. If we were to do another backyard project, we would 100% work with California...

I was referred to California Pools (San Clemente) by a neighbor who had the company build their pool. I find word of mouth referrals from trusted personal sources to be the most reliable and this certainly proved to be the case with California Pools, with whom we contracted to handle our build. Every step of our six-month project, from the initial in-office consultation with the owner/team, design, permits, materials selection and HOA approval through demo, excavation, plumbing, electrical and masonry...all of it...was without setbacks or drama. California Pools and its excellent team became more than simply a company I hired; they quickly became partners in helping transform our yard. The contract and payment schedule (as stages of the work was completed) were clearly spelled out. My project manager, Ryan Skelton, was extraordinarily friendly, responsive and managed the build like it was going into his own yard. Communication was superb and handled not only via telephone but via group text where all parties could and did easily share updates and information. All deadlines were met. The trade work was very clean and the end quality was excellent. Workers were talented, kind, focused, on time, respectful of our neighbors and cleaned up at the end of each day. If anyone is seriously considering a pool/spa project, I enthusiastically recommend California Pools...

We live in the San Clemente area and when our 30 yr old pool cracked again, we started interviewing local pool companies. We talked with about ten and received formal proposals from about five. The others would not or could not build what we wanted. Our idea was to build a steel and gunite pool.

California Pools proposal was very professional with multiple pre-construction site visits to ensure "same page" agreements. This would be a custom pool with waterjet benches, bubbler on the sun shelf and a waterfall out of the raised garden that was transformed from the deep end of the old pool.

Water and pump turn up was complete in less than 60 days. Believe me - Not Bad! This is the second pool we have built with California Pools (one in Los Angeles) and were really happy to see they have offices here in the San Clemente area. We are really pleased with the Price to Value, the diligent efforts to make issues nonexistent and the great team that GM Roger Stalmer has put together.
