ABC Market & Deli — Restaurant in San Diego

I have been a fan of this store for a long time, pretty sure I positively reviewed it “back in the day”! I was a bit concerned when I saw that they were remodeling during COVID because selfishly? Normally once that happens, prices go sky high, that brings in new (read better, lol) clientele and neighborhood folks are chopped liver. Not so here! And Oh, what a nice difference the remodel makes.

Maybe prices went up a few cents but nothing noticeable. But the store is now sparkly bright and new. It was ALWAYS clean but the brightness helps in reading labels and I can now tell what is on the bottom shelf. The biggest difference is the new deli, which is fantastic! There are a few tables outside now to sit and enjoy your food and the sandwiches are top notch, using quality meats and cheeses and a great selection. Prices start about $10-12 but they are well worth the price. I have only been I during off hours and bought pre-made sandwiches, can’t wait to do it in person and customize!

My only criticism is that I will not put an item in my basket without knowing how much it is first, and while they are happy to find out for you, I wish all items were priced. I actually think I would buy 5x the amount I do now. But then again, it does give me a chance to chat with the clerks who always make sure to acknowledge us as regulars and are as down-home and appreciative as they always have been.

So my review? A+++! Both on the new remodel, the sandwich shop addition and the brightness. But especially still to the staff, keep up the great work guys. You nailed...

I am so happy for this market. I used to visit this place five years ago for odds and ends when I had no deli. They've come such a long way. The service and the politeness of those who worked the cash register has always been above the rest.

They were smart and put their money into making their deli and market and it has paid off. Its beautiful inside with hardwood floors, a tv nesr the deli and their selections of everything from potstonchips to bike tire pumps is impressive

Love this lil hole in the wall mom n pop place. It's conveniently located like 3 minutes walking distance from me and the prices are affordable...well for my budget anyway. The gentlemen that work there are always polite and friendly. I'm sending a special shout out to "Sam" for hooking my kids up with a lollipop just about every time I stop in and he's working. That's awfully kind and generous of him and the kids definitely...
