Love love LOVE this deli. I found them for delivery a little over a month ago on Uber eats/postmates, but today was the first time I ever went in to the shop. The gals that were working today were super kind and friendly.
The sandwiches are THICK and very filling. If youāre looking for a light lunch you could easily split one with a partner and be totally satisfied. Every sandwich weāve had from them has been absolutely delicious, but the San Diego Psycho is my go to. Bonus points that every single time Iāve ordered it, itās been exactly the same in quality, portion, and taste. Consistency in a great sandwich is SO underrated.
{pro tip: if you see the words HOT on their menu, that means the temperature, not the spice of the sammie. āHOTā sandwiches are served warm!}
The shop itself is super unassuming. Itās quite literally a hole in the wall. Itās located inside the convenience store/market off El Cajon Blvd and Ohio street. Iāve driven past this store front every day for the last 5 months and never even realized it was there. Parking off Ohio Street is usually pretty doable during the day, so this is an easy lunch break stop.
If you havenāt gone yet, add it to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got my order to go so this only applies to the food. We had the club on sourdough and the New Yorker on Italian. We also tried the Mac and cheese (overcooked noodles, bland sauce, and super gritty). These are overpriced for legitimate deli meat and cheese youād buy for $5.99 a pack off the shelf. The bread is so dry and 100% store bought. Neither sandwich in general had enough flavor or sauce and we had to add ingredients from our fridge at home to choke it down. I gave it a 2 star because itās about the same as a sandwich I would make at home with cheap ingredients and store bought bread. Do not eat here especially at these prices.
TLDR: Buy ingredients from Ralphās and make it at home to save $10+ and actually add enough ingredients and sauce to eat it.
**Edit since they responded.
Respectfully, I buy sandwiches from places like Rubicon weekly for around the same as I paid from your deli. I never complain because itās loaded with flavor, delicious bread, and itās well worth the VALUE.
Trying to throw shade at a customer saying āsorry you cannot afford our foodā when the content of the review was respectful criticism is crazy work. Iāll ensure people donāt eat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me take a moment to gush about The Girls Deli ā a hidden gem that's been winning hearts and stomachs since day one. First things first, let's talk about the customer service ā it's like being greeted by old pals who can't wait to whip up your favorite deli creation. These ladies know how to make you feel like part of the family.
Now, picture this ā a casual deli counter right inside a convenience store, giving you all the cozy bodega vibes straight out of NYC. It's like a little taste of the Big Apple right here in San Diego. And don't even get me started on the ordering process ā fast, smooth, and as easy as a New York minute.
Speaking of location, they've nailed it with their spot off El Cajon Blvd, close to the action. I've been a fan since their opening, and let me tell you, they've only been upping their game since then. These lovely ladies have my loyalty, and with every bite of their deli goodness, they keep proving that they're crushing the deli game like pros. The Girls Deli, you've got a dedicated sandwich...
