I had one of the worst experience of I have ever had with any business in regards to a takeout order. I ordered take out via the Uber eats app. I think this business was confused that this even existed, as they kept asking me if I was the driver or the customer. I explained that I live one block away and decided to order take out. I received two bags from them that were so tightly knotted, I did not think their counter was the appropriate place to open and look for items, but after this ordeal, I will be checking all my bags for all take out from now on. I walked home, under 5 minutes, called and informed them that they forgot to pack 2 items. The first worker informed he there was nothing she could do as I already left, I then raised my voice and let her know it was lt right to get what I paid for and that this is simply simple robbery (not a cuss word or threat uttered from my mouth). She responded to which they she could refuse service to anyone (I guess that is the way they get away with stealing when people catch it and complain). I then asked to speak to a manager who again was confused how I wasn’t the driver and said I had to report the missing item that they forgot in their own bags that they handed off to me (make that make sense). I then informed them of another policy Uber had which is a very low limit of reimbursements regardless of who is at fault, this happened to me years about when I get an entire wrong order from a fancier restaurant and they flat out said the limit was too much. I do not think I should cut into that sum for their mistake! She refused to listen to any reason and kept asking me to reorder! Are too crazy! I will not reorder for you to steal more money! AVOID AT ALL COST! This is plain and simple horrible management. And if you are reading, I have reported you to the BBB with picture proof and two receipts of proof. None of this is about the money, it’s the fact that you KNEW you missed giving me items, but wanted to take more of of money and have the blame of missing items on the courier (which is me!) UNBELIEVABLE!

Update: They also make their own miso and soy sauce! I’ve been to many ramen places and none of them featured their house made miso or soy sauce which is understandable because it is A LOT of work!! This just showcases the outstanding level of care they put into their food! The restaurant appears hole-in-the-wall in a strip mall, but when you enter, you’re delightfully surprised by their modernized, clean, bright interior. The service was impeccable and the food came out quick. Their house specialty shoyu ramen came with half pork and half chicken broth. The broth was not too rich and the flavors were well-balanced. The spicy miso was delicious as well, stronger flavor profile overall. The noodles were very chewy and the thickness felt appropriate for the soup base. I appreciate their rather simple and focused menu, highlighting their house specialty. The flavors are classic and not overly seasoned and not too salty. The portion was just right and the pricing seems very reasonble. It’s so nice to find a ramen place that’s as high quality and classic as Baikohken when there are so many ramen places that are modernized or westernized. It makes Baikohken stand out for us. We’d recommend to those wanting a bowl of classic, good quality ramen, no tricks or twists.

New ramen restaurant from Hokkaido, Japan with history of over 50 years making ramen recently opened in Hillcrest. I went with their signature ramen, which was Shoyu ramen. I really liked their choice of the noodles and their bamboo shoots were very good. However, their pork chasu was tough and tasted old. I was disappointed with their broth which was a mix of tonkotsu and seafood umami. Seafood umami was not evident but it also tasted somewhat old. Also ordered a side of pork chashu rice bowl which was overwhelmed by the amount of sauce that was used, ruining the dish. The service was nonexistent but when it was time for payment, they were asking 20-25% for tips which is ridiculous. This isn’t fine dinning and it is very uncomfortable when the waitress/hall manager is standing and looking over you to see if correct tip button is pressed. Overall, poor dinning experience. 2.9/5 ⭐️

My wife and I were initially quite sad when we drove by the complex to discover that Menya had closed up their branch here. Fast forwards to a few months later and we were greatly surprised and pleased to find Baikohken, another Ramen chain straight from Japan had opened. We were intrigued and so we stopped in and were very pleasantly surprised with our visit. On our first visit we tried the Kindako Takoyaki and they were just as delicious as we remembered them from our last visit to Japan. The waiter also recommended a bottle of craft Japanese Beer, "Kawaba", for the meal which did not disappoint. For our main dishes, my wife ordered the Miso Butter-Corn Ramen and I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu, and neither disappointed. The cut of pork was thick and juicy, and the spicy broth had an excellent blend of garlicy spiciness that I greatly enjoyed. My wife's broth was smooth, creamy, and easy to slurp and enjoy together with the high quality noodles. If anything, the only thing that seemed off was the playlist of music used in the atmosphere, which made it distinctly American instead of the typical JPOP or City-Pop I'm used to hearing in these establishments. My wife and I have made other visits since our initial one and look forwards to...
