Bei Yuan Tea & Boba — Restaurant in San Diego

I have been a loyal customer from Tea station time to Bei Yuan Tea & Boba time. I even know one of the owners of Bei Yuan. I have noticed a change in meal quality recently. First of all, the side dish (配菜) in the meal set become mostly spicy and not as delicious and my kids don't like them anymore. Second, two weeks ago I ordered a teriyaki chicken (照燒雞) meal and it tasted sour and bad! I immediately told the servant and they exchanged a new one for me. Today I just found they cancel the business meal menu (商業套餐) which all include side dishes and a drink, and now some meals don't include side dish and drink anymore. I also found they increased the price but the food quality still needs improvement. Service wise, the servant forgot to bring our drink to us, so I had to go pick it up on my own. I hope Bei Yuan can keep up good and service quality like the prior Tea...

So my friend and I arrived here to find both of the self-service ordering machines not working, then waiting at the counter the employees working didn't even acknowledge us, although in fairness one was taking a very large online order. We were directed that we could order using the qr code on the table, so we both did that. I received my drink a bit later (after another person who ordered at the counter), but my friend didn't receive hers. After waiting about 10 more minutes, she went up and asked about it and they tried to say she never ordered (she had the receipt on her phone). In a funny twist we had both ordered the same thing, but somehow the employees couldn't recognize that there...

the coconut milk tea with boba is okay. the passion iced tea is decent, especially considering you can choose your sweetness level (100%, 3/4, 1/4, or no sweetness.) be warned the aloe vera is in a VERY sweet syrup so that will throw off your drink if you were expecting something less sweet.

the thai milk tea and the coffee milk tea were (in my opinion) awful. They tasted very chemically and fake. I got through maybe a quarter of each and threw them away.

I'm sad because there are many options to choose from and I like being able to get a larger size than other boba places but trying something new is a huge risk at almost $6 a pop :( Having felt like I wasted $12 I'm not real...
