From the very first interaction, the experience was very unpleasant. I understand that drive-thru service is usually quick and to the point, but that does not justify an employee being rude, sarcastic, and showing zero interest in assisting or selling a product.
When I asked what types of milk they had, her response, with an annoyed tone and rolling her eyes, was: âthe same as always, what do you want?â. She kept cutting me off, and when I mentioned that I wanted a matcha, needed a receipt, and would be paying separately, she again responded in a curt and dismissive way, as if my questions were a burden.
I even tried to apologize, explaining that I hadnât visited in a while, that I needed matcha for a restaurant, and asked for her recommendation. It only got worse: she rolled her eyes again and let out a sarcastic laugh, mocking me for not knowing the difference between their four types of matcha. At that point, I didnât want to ask anything else. I had originally planned to buy all four varieties, but because of her attitude, I only ordered one before she turned her back on me.
On top of that, she didnât give me a receipt. When my drink was handed to me (which was actually very good, Iâll admit), I had to ask for it again â and another employee kindly apologized for her coworkerâs behavior.
A coffee shop with such a strong reputation doesnât deserve to be represented like this. Being straightforward is not the same as being rude. Customer service requires respect and professionalism, especially early in the morning when many of us arrive with a positive attitude on our way to work. Hopefully, this employee can be trained properly in customer service, because itâs clearly not...
Read moreMany people including me have had their coffee since itâs featured at many coffee shops and restaurants. But many probably have never gone to Cafe Motoâs actual location in Barrio Logan. I was one of such people until my most recent visit. I met a buddy here since I was close by, and this IS his favorite local roasted coffee beans in San Diego. Itâs pretty much a walk-up, drive-up to-go spot, with a few tables & chairs for 2 on the sidewalk. My buddy ordered their hot Dutch Mocha espresso and I had their hot decaf Americano. There was a short walk-up line and an even longer drive-up line at the time of our visit. After ordering, we waited an additional 5-10 minutes for our orders to be called, then consumed them at one of their tables attached to their building on the sidewalk. My Americano was delicious. No complaints, and my friendâs Dutch espresso is one of his usual orders so I can only assume he loves that as well. They do have a restroom inside for patrons. Just enter the door around the corner from the walk-up counter to access it. They take AMEX here, a positive these days since many merchants donât. If Cafe Moto was closer to our home, I could see coming here more frequently, but my local coffee shop in Bonita (Donnyâs Cafe) uses Cafe Motoâs coffee beans so I get to drink it without coming all the way to Barrio Logan. Itâs a pretty cool spot, and I highly recommend trying it out if youâre a lover of...
Read moreThe iconic First Coffee Roaster in San Diego never disappoints! ~We had Organic medium roast drip coffee with a strawberry crème Babka from Split Bakehouse that was otherworldly! Said Babka was A brioche dough, so buttery, and the homemade strawberry jam filling was extraordinary, 6$! (Btw ALL of the Split Bakehouse offerings, savory and sweet are COMPLETELY vegan, meaning âmilk, butter, and eggsâ are all vegan! They are master bakers to get the incredible flavor in their baked goods!) The coffee at Moto is the best value and taste in organic coffee offerings in all of San Diego, at 3.69$ for the cup, and it was, as always, delightful. No one can beat their elegant black cup and logo!! I like that fresh flowers adorn the tables in the al fresco seating, and the cheery bright yellow chairs are quite comfortable. The staff here is a bit eclectic and bit too somber for caffeine addicts, you know? But, thatâs ok, it works! And it might be because their drive through crowd is voluminous and that can bring monotony for them, I am sure! 5 tables for 2 are along the wall and they are bit shaded, and three tables for four are curb side and they have umbrellas. It made for a pleasant morning to be at Cafe Moto! **Also appreciate they do double cups for piping hot coffee, not just the...
