Carmen's Mexican Food — Restaurant in San Diego

I couldn't say enough good about this place if I tried! We walked in with two little kids and found the staff to be extremely friendly and accommodating. Rather than being annoyed, they were fun and interacted with the kids. They even made sure to offer plastic silverware for them!

In addition to the amazing service, the food is INCREDIBLE. I'm sitting here eating my leftovers the next day (without reheating them since we're driving) and I'm still impressed. I am not a fan of fake, Americanized Mexican food so when I go somewhere, I want something authentic with no frills. That's exactly what I found! Authentic, delicious, and good enough to make me wish I lived close enough to go weekly. Because I absolutely would.

AND! As if that isn't enough, the menu is extremely diverse with tons of choices and the prices are perfect! We were looking for an inexpensive casual place to eat near our hotel. We saw this place online and thought it was worth a try. We couldn't have chosen better! We had our daughter and her 2 little kids with us. The place isn't fancy at all, but it was clean. We ordered chicken fajitas with no cheese or sour cream for my daughter, due to her dairy allergy, chicken nachos for her kids to share, my husband ordered a Pollo asada chimichanga and I ordered a carne asada tostada. Ive been to their current location in the past but it has been a few years.

Today I came in to eat here again, after I'd guess close to 10 years since the last time.

The food was exactly as I remember it. Delicious and fresh and hot.
