For the most part I refrain from writing a review, however, there’s something I need to let you know. I believe that to run a good business a very important factor, that applies to all aspects, is CONSISTENCY. When a regular customer comes to purchase a product, they have purchased before, they have an expectation. You are taking their money in exchange for the EXPECTED product. I ordered a turkey torta that came out to $11.08 with tax. As you can hopefully see in the pictures, I received chunky pieces of turkey that tasted like wet undercooked meat. Disgusting to say the least, I almost threw up. I returned to have the problem fixed as I usually get the turkey torta which comes with thin slices of turkey ham (big difference) and the individual there said oh well it’s turkey, that’s turkey like technically we didn’t lie to you it’s turkey yet vastly differently in quality from turkey ham. Completely failed to empathize and recognize the inconsistency rather made it seem like an inconvenience. An hour foot would understand that there’s a quality difference. She offers to replace it with a different meat, Im personally not a fan of ham so I compromised to having egg instead. They got the same torta and simply put egg in there with the same nasty residue taste of wet undercooked meat not to add the inconvenience of having to drive back here. Sad to say I will not be coming back at all.
So, if you are limited on income or low on income or dislike inconsistency and people playing with your money like it grows on trees…...
Read moreI was never a fan of tortas, but after eating a turkey torta, I’m officially going to say that I liked the one I had couple days ago at D-K-Che! I’m in and plan to make tortas as a part of my sandwich selection at restaurants/shops in future.
Just to slow things down though, I want to do baby steps and actually stick to D-K-Che Fruteria’s torta. Not so sure what it was for me, but my hunch, it may have been the bread and its size. The bread size was not the average that of a torta sandwich, softness on inside, little crunch on the outside and all the fixings that came with it. I even liked the non hot/spicey jalepenos. The torta could have been made with a little more turkey and romaine lettuce. Other than this, it was perfect torta and delicious. And, it did not fall apart, like most breads do.
So far D-K-Che is has the best tasting torta in town.
My daughter had been going to this place since Covid days. She usually purchases acai, fruit bowls, and fruit drinks. She is a fan of D-K-Che. On the other hand, my partner loves the tortas, chamango and other fruit drinks. Also a fan but may sometimes venture off to other places in imperial beach to see what’s out there in terms of price and taste.
Side note. We had tried the carne asada torta. Let’s just say, carne asada is made for tacos and not tortas. Will not buy again.
We all get inflation, but I sure hope D-K-Che does not inflate their prices again....
Read moreOMFG. I stopped by with my girl because she had a craving for Tostilocos. Extremely satisfied with that tasty and plentiful charola. All the good stuff in there that you would expect, with a nice first impression of very soft and salty enough cueritos (pickled pork rinds).
What blew me away, however, was that marvelous Clamato with added almeja(clam)! When I say that my eyes lit up like I had just won a Scratcher ticket small prize, I really mean it. The type of thing that makes you moan and yell out a bad word or three. A beautiful medley of all the right flavors that just make you want to share a sip with everyone around you. Literally, "BABE! TASTE THIS NOW!"
I will continue to do business with D-K-Che Frutería for as long as I live. Yup. Anytime and Everytime I passy by, I shall stop by. We got tortas, Tostilocos, clamato, and everything was excellent. Above and beyond. Try it. Please. Support this business.
They also had a sign for salmon bagels. Best believe I'll come back in the morning for one...
