I am super excited to have this Aldi near me. I love the fact that I can get in and out in a matter of moments. Prices are great. The selection is not that big which is a good thing. I've gotten to know the brands that Aldi carries. I have tried a lot of the Aldi branded items and do say they're quite good. There are a few things that I will skip, but no showstoppers. The only disappointment I would say keeping it from getting five stars is that they sell out of items and I can't often get everything I need. Knowing that as well I often will stock up on items that have a shelf life. The staff has always been really friendly with the exception of one cashier that I avoid. I will typically use the self-checkout if possible. Highly recommend. I do like the fact that I can get a full bag of groceries for 20 bucks again.
** Update on uptight cashier. I had another run in with Cindy (name?). While using the self-checkout, I had three items in my cart. The cashier calling me out to remove my items from the cart to scan them. I'm very careful when I use the self-checkout and count my items and bounce them against what the screen says to make sure I'm not walking out with something I didn't pay for as well for something I might have scanned twice. This seems to be a common occurrence with this particular cashier as I've heard her call out others about 15 items or less when it's very obvious they have less than 15 items. To be honest, if she's the cashier and I can only pay with cash, I am walking out. Aldi, you can do better than this. I enjoy shopping at Aldi and it's a great experience until I run into this woman that really sours the...
Read moreJanuary 16, 2025. Profiling! An older female worker who was rude on a prior visit, was in the same aisle as me. When I walked she walked, then it happened again, then it happened again. So I pretended to leave the aisle, but quickly turned around, and she was leaving the aisle, but stayed there, when I stayed there. So I smirked and laughed to diffuse my anger. She then said to me, "You're smiling at me." I laughed and walked away. I get to the register, the young man was polite, and said hello how are you. I said, hello how are you doing. My card declined. We tried a few times, it still declined. I stepped aside, called my card. Went back in line, took off one item, and would pay a partial payment in cash. It wouldn't work multiple times even though I had enough. An assistant manager came, tried several times, said it wasn't their system. I said I have enough. I asked if the cashier knew how to do the dual payment correctly, he said yes. So even though I had enough money, I took off another item. It went through. The assistant manager said it was the item. It was not because the receipt showed that I had enough money left on the card to pay for the last item with the extra money I initially told them to charge me. Meanwhile, There's three to four people in line behind me. Waste of my time! SMH! Also on another visit, a cashier told me to leave my bags in the front. I said, is that your store policy, she said, oh you can take them with you. There are so many non black people in that store carrying bags! ZERO STARS for multiple employees behavior...
Read moreBEWARE of the older lady at the register with glasses and short white/grey hair. LOVE ALDI'S. HATED the way I was TREATED. This is my first time at the Balboa Ave Aldi’s location. Me and my fiancé are a young couple and I happen to also bring my autistic teenage younger brother with me. Due to my anxiety, I usually go to the self checkout line to avoid any panic attacks. At self checkout, I like to organize my cart so that bagging would be quick and simple (boxes, meats, canned foods, breads, etc.) HOWEVER, my family and I were wrongfully accused of stealing by an older lady with glasses and short white/grey hair; giving me a major silent anxiety attack. Just as I was about to scan my items, she had locked the self checkout kiosk that I was standing at. I found this severely embarrassing and heavily disrespectful. I understand that my autistic younger brother can look suspicious at times, however I found it extremely rude and degrading. This situation could have been handled in a less humiliating and more respectful way. I am unsure if her hostility came from that fact that my fiancé is Asian or because of the way my younger brother dresses, but I just wanted to feed my family and leave without a hassle. The older lady made it so difficult to enjoy shopping at Aldi’s. She is unprofessional, extremely impatient, inconsiderate, and has poor customer service. Never had this issue at any other Aldi's. Not coming to this Aldi's location again. This location is not...
