Gong Cha — Restaurant in San Diego

There are TONS of places to get boba in Mira Mesa but this is my favorite. Consistently good and lots of options. Staff is always friendly. My most recent trip was last week before work. Ordered 5 drinks and the guy that took my order I think was new. Receipt said his name was Jacob. Super nice and got my complicated order right the fist time. He was attentive and quick to help the other guests as well. As he was bagging up my order I believe the owner / manager came out to help. A little put off by the way she was talking to Jacob. Micro managing and speaking in a condescending assertive tone. I’ve worked as a manager and owner in the food and retail business for over 2 decades and always reserved correcting and commenting on my employees actions in front of customers. If it was something that needed to be addressed at that moment in front of customers I would make sure it was quiet and in a polite manner. Still give this place 5 stars cause all my other many visits have been great. Highly recommended signing up for their rewards...

I love finding a good boba stop! This one did not disappoint! They had so many options and choices.c toppings and add ons! I was so excited when I walked in seeing the wall of boba made me excited to try everything!

I came here with my cousin and she ordered the brown sugar boba and I ordered strawberry milk boba. The brown sugar boba was good, you can’t go wrong ordering that. The strawberry milk boba was so so good! Usually when I get anything strawberry is pumped with strawberry syrup and just too sweet and makes the boba flavor not balanced but Gong Cha really got it right, they made the strawberry flavoring from real strawberries giving the milk such a simply but perfectly sweet strawberry taste. I got it with a crème brûlée topping that really helped bring the whole drink together.. I usually don’t have a lot to say about boba but this place really impressed me. This place stands out to me for their Earl Grey milk teas. That and they give student discounts

EDIT: Drinks are on point but dang they gotta get their act together with promotions. three times now we have been lured to their shop for promotions (BOGO, birthday drink, then the holiday cup) and each time there’s some excuse for why their promotion can’t be honored. The first two times was because their rewards machine?? was down so they couldn’t honor the BOGO or birthday despite us showing on our phone the text we received. the third time was for the Insta holiday cup, and they had already run out. Perhaps the holiday promotion can let slide given likely limited stock, but given the prior failures to stand by their promotions, i am not inclined to give them a pass.
