This is a gem of a place. It's small, quaint and has darn good food. Plus their workers are total darlings.

You first order and pay for your food at the register then choose somewhere to sit.

Being in a new place, I changed up the size of my ramen from large to small in order to increase my orders of sushi.

The lady behind the register was funny in encouraging me with a "good choice!" These ladies know how to be friendly, so you're already getting awesome service.

I enjoyed the smallness of the place. It was homey and casual. Luckily, I snagged myself nice outdoor seating during late Lunch. They have heaters so you don't really have to worry about getting cold, especially during our recent overcast.

The Miso and Tonkotsu Ramen were about the best I have had. The Tonkotsu was the right amount of creamy and delicious while the Miso had flavourful spiciness. My sister said Tonkotsu was salty, which I liked, but keep that in mind as she likes spicier flavors.

They both had nicely cooked Pork, Naruto, and bamboo among the normal ramen noodles. Ahh, I absolutely enjoyed their ramen.

Their sushi was also well made. We had Rainbow, eel and crunchy rolls. The rainbow was not colorful wich took away from it's presentation but it was delicious none the less. It consisted of pale tuna, salmon and shrimp toppings.

Their eel was not bad either.

Their crunchy roll, however, was my favorite blending both sweet flavor and texture into one satisfying roll.

Try the place out because you will not...

A hidden Gem. I kind of forgot about this place. I also have to mention this was the first place I ever tried sushi roughly 20yrs ago and have been to countless places regularly. You'd be hard pressed to find better sushi prices than during their happy hour that goes till 8pm. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. During covid19 reopen, they had free bottles of cold water and a sanitation station. And yes, the sushi was delicious. I recommended the crunch roll. I asked myself why haven't I been coming here and made mental note to make it a regular spot now. Good for a let's stop in and get sushi or for pick up. Maybe not the atmosphere to take a date to though (paper plates, bus your own table, order and pay at the counter, etc) and there's nothing wrong with that. Think of it like taco shops. There's taco shops, then there's Fiesta De Reyes for example (real dishware, utensils, cloth napkins, they bring you the check) One is for a quick bite the other is for...

I ordered takeout on on 06/27/2020. I called it in asked for extra chicken. I said i wanted extra chicken 3 times to rep over the phone. She said ok. They need someone who CAN understand and TAKE phone orders. I got home i opened it up its not there. There were so few and VERY SMALL PIECES OF CHICKEN. I DID NOT enjoy the meal. Then this morning checking my receipt records they charged me for a 20% tip. My bill is supposed to be $10.24 Its pending for $12.29 This is the 2nd time i ordered takeout and they tip charged me. Thats Not good business. I do not tip on TAKEOUT ORDERS. Tip you for getting my order wrong? I DON'T LIKE THAT. IF I LEAVE A TIP. I WILL WRITE IT IN, OTHERWISE THE BILL IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR THE AMOUNT OF THE SALE. DOING THIS KIND OF THING CAN CAUSE AN OVERDRAFT OF SOMEONE'S BANK ACCOUNT. I HAVE NEVER HAD A RESTAURANT DO THAT. I WILL NOT BE DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS...

Fabulous institution of Hillcrest. Great friendly staff who have been here for twenty plus years. Great wholseome and affordable Japanese food, with a wonderful homey atmosphere for dining in. Outdoor and indoor seating. Sake, beer and wine. Great happy hour prices. I love the California Rolls, the Miso soup, the chicken Katsu, the egg rolls, the fried gyoza, and tempura. I don't particularly care for sushi myself, but my friends who do speak highly of the selection. Sometimes, I'll stop here for a light lunch of California Rolls and a Miso soup, for just around $5.00. Many dinner specials you can get out of here for under $10.00. Lunch specials around $6.00.
