Ketch Brewing Brew Pub — Restaurant in San Diego

I love trying new places to eat, so when someone posted this place on the NextDoor app, I went as soon as I could. I’ve been here several times since the original post mid February, working my way down their menu and loving it 😋

Personally I like the industrial warehouse atmosphere. It’s super clean, including the washrooms. I’ve been looking forward for the menu to change, though it hasn’t yet, but that’s okay since I still have several of their menu items to try. The food has always been great and their staff are super friendly.

My last visit I tried their Korean Chicken sandwich and it was juicy, lightly breaded, slightly crispy and delicious 😋 Their cole slaw is the best I’ve had in years. Beats any fast food place and many popular restaurants in freshness and taste.

To say this is just a brewery that serves food isn’t doing this place justice. I’m not a beer connoisseur, but my beer drinking friends tell me their brewski’s are pretty good.

Based on the location, I was anticipating this to be an overpriced tourist trap with mediocre food…..I couldn’t be more wrong.

First the location is great, right off the water in the heart of downtown with a great open patio looking into the bay.

The value this place offers is astonishing considering it’s a prime location in San Diego. Most entrees are under $20 and have huge portions. My girlfriend ordered the club sandwich pictured below which was positively massive. Each entree also came with 2 sides.

On top of the great value, the food was legitimately excellent. I had the 10oz Cheeseburger and it was one of my favorite burgers I’ve had in a while. And the club sandwich was also superb, it is served on a kind of Keizer roll which is an interesting and appreciated twist. We had the Fried Pickles as a starter and they were ok, I’d pass on...

My family and I came to Ketch to celebrate. From the moment we walked in, Odie took such good care of us. He was friendly, welcoming, and had great recommendations and pairing suggestions. We were pleasantly surprised by the price, quantity, and quality of the food. Made fresh, brought right out, and full of flavor. I can honestly say I haven't been impressed with both food AND service since since pre-covid times. Ketch and Odie reminded us why people like to go out in the first place. This is definitely a place we will tell our family and friends to check out!
