Small Mexican food joint with open salsa bar and carne asada fries. Came here on a Sunday during lunch and there was no line to order at the counter. Parking was easy as it’s located in a shopping complex. You order first and then they’ll call your number. There’s a 35 cent fee if you pay with credit card. The prices are cheap and the food is pretty good. Split some carne asada fries with three other people, which were of a generous portion size. The fries were thick cut and it had a thin smattering of guacamole and sour cream on top. I liked sprinkling the pico de gallo on top although unfortunately none of the salsas were spicy. The al pastor burrito was very good - the meat was tender and well-marinated. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, and there’s a gender neutral bathroom outside (note that it doesn’t lock). Some of the reviews commented on how dirty the toilet is, it’s passable. Overall it’s a good spot for cheap Mexican food that comes out pretty quickly and has a casual atmosphere.

TOO MUCH PLASTIC! A Styrofoam plate just for a taco? If I’m eating in side the restaurant, I don’t need any plate. How about just leave it in the tinfoil or some wax paper? AND plastic bag when I am just going to a table and eat it inside? So much waste. Where does it all go? Fish taco pretty good. Been /cheese burrito OK but the cheese was not melted at all. Salsa bar -ok Lots of napkins - cool

This is a wonderful little hole in the wall that you should check out if you are a local foodie with a quick lunch break. It offers some of the most authentic Mexican food around, at very fair pricing. Relatively fast service, given that everything is made to order. I posted pictures of the main menu and specials menu in case you want to take a look.

Got food poisoning on March 12, 2019 around 9:30pm with a veggie burrito AND WILL NEVER RETURN.

(This last happened to me in 1989 with a chicken taco at a Del Taco prior to a business appointment and that was it for them, too.)

Last night I was starving after attending a play and was order #55. As the night went on, something didn't feel right, so I went to bed and was awakened with the unpleasant symptoms. Almost 24 hours later, I am still stuck at home feeling awful.

As an Independent Contractor, if I don't work, then I don't earn, so this disaster has already cost me over $200.

My philosophy as a customer is that I entrust the establishment to exceptional care to provide both good food and safe standards as if I were a guest in their home.

There is no way for me to run a chemical analysis about what aspect of the meal poisoned me. They have betrayed my trust in their abilities to serve me, and my loved ones and friends will be warned.

My hope is that the proprietors re-evaluate their standards so that customers unaware of my suffering are not similarly affected.

When friends of mine have had similar experiences, I urge them to notify the restaurant so that they can attempt to tighten their ships. Whatever got me must have gotten others and I hope they are not shy.

Once burned, I am forever out at this place and hope they make necessary changes to avoid such...

I was driving by, saw this taco shop and thought I’d give it a try. I was staying in Del Mar and this was one of the closest places. For something near by, for me, it was just OK. It was quite busy for after 9pm on a Friday night I thought. They seemed to offer a lot of the similar foods that are also at other taco shops. I ordered a couple of Carne Asada tacos. My food wasn’t horrible, but also wasn’t outstanding. The quantity was average and the price might have been on par for the area. Just under $10 for 2 tacos. I’m used to paying a third less where I’m from. The service was somewhat quick considering how busy it was. There were maybe 6 tables inside that no one was using and a few more outside that only a couple were occupied. The one thing that aggravated me was that every single available table wasn’t cleaned off from that last patron or maybe more. I wanted to dine inside but I decided I should have to eat over someone else’s mess. I get that they were busy, but cleanliness is part of owning a restaurant. If their tables are neglected then I wonder how neglected the kitchen may be. Keep in mind I did not look to see what their health department rating is. They could be a very clean place, just not when...

We go here all the time for takeout. Most of the food is really good, portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and the employees are all very nice.

The one time I ordered chicken enchiladas, the sauce was very bitter and not good. So I don't recommend those. Maybe it was a fluke though, everything else we have ordered here has ranged from satisfactory to delicious so I was very surprised (and the chicken inside the enchiladas was really good so I just ate that part lol). The tortillas are fantastic, especially the corn tortillas, they taste like homemade. The refried beans are also really good - just fyi they probably are made with lard.

The online menu is a little hard to read, but the counter menu is fine and if you just go in and order and wait they are usually pretty fast. Highly recommend the steak ranchero entree and the chile verde burrito (this is pork chile verde - tender chunks of pork stewed in a thick green sauce). The chicken fajitas are pretty good too.

Portions are very large, an entree plus an extra side of beans and tortillas is enough food for two people. Burritos don't come with sides, but they are enormous and very filling so you don't really...
