We happened on this newly opened (2 weeks ago) seafood restaurant while finishing business at AAA Club of So.Cal. nearby. We were short on time so we enjoyed the efficient counter style ordering, and take a number to your table process. The food looked fresh and tasted fresh. We enjoyed the Fried Oyster Poor Boy Sandwich. The description didn't mention avocado, but the color photo in the menu showed avocado, so we asked about the discrepancy and were told we could have avocado if we wanted. We affirmed we did. However, when we received the two sandwiches 'NO AVOCADO'. The nice, young, male server took them back and returned a few minutes later with 3 avocado slices in each sandwich. After that he was vigilant and ensured we had whatever we needed. They have a varied seafood menu including Chioppino and a few other items which I want to try when I return. For beer drinkers there's a varied, small (about 10-15) but good selection of craft beers. There's open air, covered dining as well as indoor tables. When it became a little breezy, the male server came over and checked with us before he rolled a wind shade down for us. It's, quick, easy, good food, reasonably priced and worth your time to give this...
Read moreI really enjoy this place. The happy hour menu is fantastic! Oysters are one third the normal price, fish tacos are only $2. The poke bowls and ceviche are fantastic. The selection of local beers is nice and the soda machine dispenses Stubborn Soda. The only thing that disappoints me here is the guac. It tastes like they skimped on the avocado and used some filler. Everything else I've tried has been great though.
Update: After returning several times over the past few months, this has become my favorite place for poke bowls. They don't have a lot of fancy mix-ins like some other places, but what they do offer is great quality fish and a lot of it! I saw another poke bowl place mention that they use 3 ounces of fish. I knew Seasurf used more, so to help with counting calories, I brought my scale to find out: 8.5 ounces of tuna in the California Poke Bowl!! That's in addition to the 7 ounces of "sweet surimi and shrimp crabmeat"! (My estimate is 1,100 total calories for the California bowl including the sauce it comes with.)
I really hope this much fish is expected and that I'm not going to get any employees in trouble. But I assume not since I get about this much every time I go. It is...
Read moreMy friend and I happened to be in the the strip mall, that Seasurf Fish Co. was located. On my list of places to try while in Del Mar, it was perfect timing, a little before 12 PM, before the lunch crowd came rushed in. We sat at the bar. The atmosphere was very laid back, a combo seafood market store and restaurant. Tall ceilings, indoor and patio seating. When you enter, you order at the cash register, you are handed a number to place wherever you choose to sit and your food and drinks get delivered to your table. The service was excellent.
We ordered a couple beers followed by a dozen oysters on the half shell, a cup of Small Fisherman's Wharf Chowder and Crispy Calamari. All the food was delicious, the oyster, fresh. We will definitely be back on our next visit for lunch. To note: by the time we left, the place was filled with the lunchtime crowd, only a couple tables open.
Atmosphere: laid back vibe, indoor and patio seating. Service: excellent....
